Happy New Year all,
I have Sonar X2 studio and an Akai EIE Pro interface. I'm running sonar on an HP elitebook laptop with 8 gig of RAM. Normally I am just doing home recording so the 4 Audio inputs on my interface are more than enough. I have a project coming up with some guys where the microphone jack would help a lot during recording. When I try to set the input on an audio track the mic jack port is not displayed. Is there a setting to make the computer's mic jack display in the inputs?

You will most likely face issues trying to use the motherboard chip together with the Akai. Most likely syncing issues. Also, if you are using Akais ASIO drivers (most recommendable) then you can not use the mobo chip simultaneously, because ASIO only accepts one interface at a time, and the mobo chip most likely doesn't even support ASIO.
AFAIK, you can not route the mobo mic input to the Akai bypassing the mobo chip, but I'm not quite sure about that.
 
Of course, you can try with WDM or ASIO4ALL (which is not ASIO) driver.

Thanks Kalle for the information. I just tried out your suggestions using the WDM, but I still cannot see the mic jack. I have tried the ASIO4ALL driver before and it gave me nothing but trouble. I guess I will have to try a different approach. Thank you so much for your response, and have a outstanding New Year.

If you haven't already, go to Edit > Preferences / Audio / Playback and Recording.
 
Open the Driver Mode dropdown.
Try MME, that should carry the built-in mic jack.
 
But as has been said, you then won't have access to your ASIO interface.
And IIRC, ASIO4All only supports WDM (I stand prepared to be corrected)
