  • Does support suck? (p.2)

Thanks for the endorsement. Although I started with PA9, I really don't remember much before the X series. There are others here with more recent experience with pre-X series versions. And there are things only support can provide. Whether BandLab or this forum can handle this request remains to be seen.

The person's sig says that they have X1 Pro, but they say they have 8.

They don't know what version of the program they have, what company they are trying to get support from, or that they can now get the latest top-of-the-line feature-packed upgraded less-buggy version that will run like a bat out of hell on their i7 system entirely free just for registering at BandLab's site.

One does not preclude the other. Many here have several versions of Cakewalk DAWs. I appreciate the OP clarifying which version needs support. Often posters leave it up to respondents to guess which version a question is about.

I would have recommended CbB in my original reply but have no idea if their PC can run the product. Since this is about SONAR 8 and the user sig mentions an X-series version, it may be the user does not want to use a DAW with a Skylight UI. That would include CbB. Or it might be a version specific question which could not be addressed by upgrading.

Absoloutely NOT!  Support is outstanding.  They are busy and you just need to be patient.  Give them a break, man.  These guys know their stuff.  Sonar 8????  Holy crap, man, Cakewalk by BandLab (continuing from Sonar Platinum) is free.  Why on Earth would you sit back in the stone age.  Free.  Free. Free.  You owe it to yourself to try it.  Free.

If Skylight is the issue, no problem. I have configured CbB to look and work exactly like 8.5. you would hardly know the difference, except the colors are different.

Ever since the Roland take-over years, Cakewalk just sucks and their support went from bad to non-existent. Even their website gives you the run around until you finally find the link to email support which simply says, "web page is under construction".

The only support available for any version prior to Cakewalk by Bandlab (a free, re-released version of Platinum), is this forum, the knowledge base, and the manual.  Cakewalk was only supporting Platinum at the time it was shutdown by Gibson, as all of the older versions were already years out of support.  But there are still many Sonar users with older versions, willing to provide user to user assistance here.

If you are not interested in the latest version for free, then your best bet is to ask away here!

I need support for my acking back....

Oops, wrong forum, sure hope the OP comes back for help though, I still have 8.5 loaded. Can't fix any bugs but I'm pretty sure I know a workaround or two.

No. I find the forum to be quite helpful, and Scook should maybe have his title changed from "Forum Host" to "Cakewalk Guru" :)

Asides from that, maybe adapting a slightly more constructive tone would go a long way in solving your problems. Whatever they may be. To me this forum seems to be one of the few places on the web where you can ask for help with such an old version, without getting rock thrown at you on your way out.

Awesome! Could you please share the theme? Or point me where can I get it? Man, I love that color scheme.
Thanks a lot!
