Hi
Okay I am returning to recording after a long long lay off and everything has changed since Sonar LE! Now using Cakewalk ver 24.04 but when I load the software with my (admittedly very ancient) Gtrack Condenser mike plugged in to the laptop, it will not see it as an input for audio and I cant move on. All I see is this;ASIO 4 ALL V2 HD AUDIO MIC INPUT 1 which I assume is my laptop not my mike. No other options to use in the drop down menu and there my limited knowledge fails me! Ideas anyone?

This makes me wonder if WASAPI or ASIO4ALL will be your best bet.
If ASIO4ALL doesn't work, I would uninstall it, and try WASAPI instead.

I think there is a long history of USB mikes not working with Sonar. Sonar really likes to see a good ASIO driver. I think those mike use the MME driver which is the worst driver of all. 
The mike was made for Pod Casting and not for serious audio recordings. For that you are best off with a proper set up with USB audio interface and a proper XLR mike. 
Even if you get the USB mike to work, your tracks will not be in sync. ASIO is the only driver mode that syncs your audio correctly. 
 
So your best bet would be to get it to work with asio4all which works like a real asio driver. It might take some looking deeper or ask on the asio4all user forum. 

You will need to use Windows Native Drivers like MME. IIRC the G Track has a headphone jack for zero-latency monitoring of the source.
