I tried Strum 1 when Cakewalk first bundled it with Sonar, I thought it was junk. It refused to play the notes I put on the MIDI track but instead seemed to want to interpret them with not very good results. I guess I just never got the UI.
I was working on a track tonight that needed a fake acoustic guitar part buried in the mix. I wasn't getting the sound I wanted so I decided to give Strum another shot. I loaded an instance of the newish Strum 2 and pointed my MIDI track at it and lo and behold it played exactly what was on the track and sounded like an acoustic guitar. Perfect.
The next time I need an acoustic guitar sound, I'll probably grab Strum first instead of last. The new version is a huge improvement.

Tom , that's a great idea! I've been trying all night to get a decent guitar track down, but the neuropathy in my hands just won't let them cooperate. I can manage the Keys though!
Can ya help a guy with a direction on where to look it up?

The version that comes with Sonar Platinum (SPlat) is a stripped down version. It still works very well, but you don't have access to the midi files that come with the full version.  I haven't worked with it enough to see what else it's missing.

But right now there is an offer to upgrade to the full version for SPlat users $49.

Not to take anything away from Strum 2, but a very good alternative acoustic guitar library is StrumMaker IV from Indiginus and going for about the same price range ($46). Very easy to create your own chords and strumming patterns.
It does require you to have Kontakt 4.5 or higher.
