I have Platinum, but I don't see Strum 2. I only have Strum acoustic session 1.01. Is Strum 2 included with Platinum?

I have "Strum Acoustic Session" -> "Strum Session 2" in addition to "Strum Acoustic Session 1" as VST2. So yes, limited version comes with Platinum. But note that GS-2 (full product) is not included, it is "special" version.

The difference: Sonar version has 2 instruments with 12 presets each, no model tuning, no effects tuning and it is locked to Sonar. GS-2 has 6x30+ presets, works in other DAWs and standalone, includes the model and effects tuning.

I clearly don't have "Strum Acoustic Session" -> "Strum Session 2". I only have "Strum Acoustic Session 1". I have the full version of Platinum, but I haven't been completely consistent the way I've updated. In other words some of the versions of Platinum I never did install, assuming that the newest version would have everything all the other version had.

Is this a wrong assumption? Or is it because Strum 2 has only been added recently? I'm 2 versions behind, because one of those versions had a known bug that made a loud hissing sound with some plugins like Ivory. I have all the versions of Sonar except X2.

I think number of patterns are more in GS-2 full version?

Well, you can check all numbers there: https://www.applied-acoustics.com/strum-gs-2/
They list everything included.

I do not know in which pack that was included, according to the release notes, it was introduced in Foxboro:

Thanks for the useful info. Foxboro was around 7/2/15. This brings up a problem that many may not be aware of, which is you can't skip any updates or else you may miss out on plugins like the Strum 2.  I wonder how may out there, like me, don't fully understand this new subscription service. I was under the assumption that I could skip an update without consequences like these.

I wonder if I had been using Command Center that this wouldn’t have happened? The reason I don’t use Command Center is because I'm still using 32 bit Plat for a short time more until I finish the last big project I have in 32 bit. Last I check Command Center didn’t work right with 32 bit only 64 bit.

Now the question is how do I find out which updates I did skip? Am I going to have to start all over with the first Platinum and do each update one at a time. What a mess that will be if that's the only way.

I believe the main installer files are not incremental. So if you start from Lexington then also you will get all the required files in the download lists of your account. [That list also shows the earlier versions, though you might not required to download them]

I installed the Foxboro update which is UP5, right after that I noticed that it didn't' just install instruments like Strum 2 it changed my UP8 from Ipwich to Foxboro, so I then updated UP6, UP7, and UP8 (Ipwich). I did this both for the 32 bit and 64 bit. I'm still not getting Strum 2 to show up in 32 or 64 bit Plat even after a few computer reboots. If anyone has a clue about this strange behavior, chime in, otherwise this sounds like a tech support thing.

I can confirm that 32bit Sonar Plat. Lexington has NO Session 2. Strange indeed.

Based on the description in the command center it looks like it might be part of the "Platinum Instrument Collection" (I don't have that installed)

I have upgraded to full version and this amazing synth. Sounds like true acoustic instrument, not necessarily a guitar but definitely large wooden box with real steel strings on it. I love to run piano midi loops through it.

On 10/10/15 downloaded PlatinumInstrumentCollectionSetup_1.0.0.10.exe and I have that installed. This was was after Foxboro, which was released early July, so if it was part of that collection, you'd think it'd be installed.

I went from UP4 to UP8 a few of months ago, thinking I'd not be missing out on plugins, etc, by skipping UP5-7. Yet something is clearly confusing here, possibly a bug, possibly my user error. Last night when I updated Plat I installed UP5 (Foxboro) and started Plat and noticed it was now downgraded to UP5.

First of all I assumed I'd get a screen that showed all the plugins and files to be installed. I had planned on not checking the main Plat exe file and instead would install only all the soft synths and plugins. Even though I chose a custom install I never got that screen to choose items.

The same thing happened when installing UP6-UP8. If I recall all the UP updates are supposed to have that item screen on a custom install. I hope I don't have to uninstall Plat and start all over. This is very confusing.

Whether a package gets installed/updated depends on you. If all you run are the SONAR Platinum installer, the other installers in the SONAR Platinum family will not get installed. As mentioned above, Strum Session 2 is in a separate "Platinum Instrument Collection" installer. The new SONAR does not have the old advanced install option using one big installer. Instead, the plug-ins are grouped into several smaller installers.
