  • Organizing imported impulses in ReMatrix

I love ReMatrix Solo, but I would like to be able to organize the impulses that I import. ReMatrix has all its factory impulse files in a single file with an .rir extension on the system drive. When you import impulses, it puts them all together into a file called user.rir. You can open the file with Notepad, but it's a very long un formatted stream of wing dings with some file names buried in it.

As an example, I've imported most of the Perfect Space impulses. When I want to use one them ReMatrix presents me with a long list of names in no particular order. The factory impulses are organized by type, and I want to do the same with imported impulses.

I am also very keen to see some options for faster (batch) import and organizing with ReMatrix.
It is a very welcomed addition to the pro channel and is getting a lot of use already.

Yeah I will have to agree with this. The loading of your own IR is almost a joke. I have a lot of mine sorted into different folders nested inside folders and on and on. I have 44k, 48k, 96k, Halls, Rooms, Plates, Churches, and on and on. All in folders. I have to open every folder to put them in the "User" option of ReMatrix. After loading about 20-30 IR, I quit. It wasn't worth the time.

ReMatrix does sound good though. But being a "lite" version, I think we got what we got and that's a wrap. : (

Has anything developed on this?

It seems like an obvious good thing to be able to organize a library of impulses so that you can find what you want. It's obviously possible since the factory impulses are already organized into folders.

Unfortunately, no. Does anyone know if the full version offers better preset management?

What I do for now is a pretty klunky workaround, as described in one of the release eZines. Basically, I have several user.rir files with different types of impulses. I rename the ones I'm not using to user.rix and then REmatrix recognizes only the file I want.

However, note that if you try to open a project with REmatrix that references a particular IR file and it can't find the file, you might be greeted with a freeze.

I just contacted overloud via their support form pointing them to this thread. It's a good plugin sadly let down by limited preset management. I'm hoping they can send cakewalk an update.

Can I delete userIRs.rir to clear out the loaded IRs or will that mess things up?  I mistakenly loaded all the NYC Showroom impulses and now it's unmanageable.

Yes, rename or delete "C:\Users\Public\Public Documents\Overloud\REmatrix Solo\userIRs.rir"
An empty file will be created the next time the plug-in is launched.

For the curious, the file is a sqlite3 database.

ReMatrix is one of the newer Sonar additions I like the most.
It just sounds great, and is easy to add and use on most tracks, especially vocals, but yeah, now that we have so many content add-ons (and I've added them all), it's become a monster to manage all the new pre-sets.

Non intuitive. They need to be organized or renamed to be able to quickly grab the right pre-set for the right application. I find myself just using the original available pre-sets, and ignoring the content add-ons because of this.
