I have been saying that for some time now. No one listens. Its a great OS.

Those of us who have been following you for years have to temper our interpretation of your enthusiasm with the fact that you have never not liked a new version of an OS better than the last version. Did you use Windows ME?

I updated my laptop a couple of months ago and immediately rolled back - the spiky text fonts were awful (big kerfufffle on the internet about this) and it also refused adamantly to see my printers.

I updated again a week ago after I'd seen on a forum that MSoft had relented and fixed the fonts debacle. (Although Edge still has traces of this so I use Chrome which is absolutely fine). This time the update also found my printers. With renewed confidence I then updated my desktop DAW PC and all went well, although I had to update my REM AIO soundcard drivers and firmware first.

I don't use any of the new toys in W10, I just updated because I knew that one day I'd have to anyway...

True. Thats because I have been using an OS since PC DOS 1. In my case I have had very good experiences with most all of them. I did use Windows ME and liked it very much. I also used Windows CE. I have also used and liked OS 2.

I'm in the "insider program" and have been using Win 10 for over a year.  No problems except for Roland dragging their feet with device drivers.  When I upgraded my Win 8.1 Pro system to Win 10 Pro, it was an upgrade and no real problems.  I had to reauthorize AD2 (and wait for Roland) but that was all.  All my Internet Explorer 11 bookmarks and passwords were carried forward to Edge.

For those with older hardware, I would be cautious and really do your "homework" before upgrading.  Some old hardware is not really compatible.  The Microsoft "minimum system requirements" are not really real world and although it meets the minimum it may not work well/properly.

For the most part it has been a continuous improvement. I may be one of the few to say it but Vista was a big step forward from XP. Went from 32 bit XP to 64 bit Vista and it was a significant step forward.

Win 8 took a bit of getting use to (I skipped 7) but with Classic shell I was very good.

Win 10 has certainly been the easiest update. A couple of issues with software authorisation, Independence Pro is still not sorted, but that is not Microsoft's fault.

I made the switch just a few weeks back and found it to be a surprisingly easy and painless process too.
I had no issue with my drivers which was a great relief.

If we didn't have to have auto updates on, I'd use it but.

I will not tolerate:

1. Not getting to use my PC immediately. (Please wait,, getting windows ready....) - it was ready yesterday.
2. Not having it shutdown immediately. ( Installing Update 1 of 20, don't turn off the PC).  >:(

My computer is on a hard switch with the reast of the studio by design.

I have to have my DAW like a car or a toaster. On demand and right now.

I didn't see any mention of time-of-day parameters for updates.  Are there any?
