FWIW, there is a SONAR X3 LE but I doubt this interface came with it. I believe it is bundled with the new Tascam interfaces.

Yes and that's awesome I think.. I would imagine that all the Roland products will still include X1 LE.
And I guess it's not clear if this will continue now that they have washed their hands of Cakewalk.
In a way Tascam will be a main competitor.
From a marketing standpoint including a DAW is very smart way to get more people hooked. These new Tascam interfaces might become very popular. To tell the truth I would like to try one out and compare it to the Scarlett.
I got Cubase 5 LE with my Tascam and if not I would have never tried it. Getting your hands on the demo is a PITA. I had Cubase for my Atari and didn't like it then either. But if I had not already owned Sonar I might have ended up using Cubase just because it was in my hands and working.

You have to register as a new customer and follow the prompts.
It will automatically send you a serial number via Email. I think it even works on weekends.

Cakewalk asks for a registration number- I don't know what that number is. I have audacity and have used Cubase.
I have a USA number to ring

Done it- got a code, now up and running.
thanks for all help

I installed cakewalk some time ago, got it working.  A while ago the computer crashed; had to reinstall windows 8.1.  the sonar icon disappeared.  now all I have is various cakewalk files on computer but no obvious way to fire up cakewalk
