  • Render the metronome?

Is it possible to render the metronome as you would a vsti?  I need to make files with a click track and being able to do that would save a whole bunch of time.  There used to be a DXi by Mike Norman called Ping DXi that did the trick beautifully back in the early Sonar days but I haven't been able to find it anymore and have lost the original program and serial.  Still use it on a machine that I have that runs XP and Cake 9.

From Craig Anderton:

RECORDING THE METRONOME TO A TRACK
Note: If your project already contains a Metronome bus, skip to step 7.
1. Choose Insert > Stereo Bus to create a new bus for the audio metronome.
2. Rename the new bus to Metronome.
3. Choose Edit > Preferences > Project – Metronome.
4. Select the Recording check box and clear the Playback check box (you’ll hear the recorded metronome instead during playback).
5. Select “Use Audio Metronome.”
6. Click the Output drop-down menu and select the bus named Metronome, then click OK to close the Preferences dialog box.
7. Click the Metronome bus’s Output control and select New Aux Track on the pop-up menu.
8. Arm the Aux Track for recording.
9. Begin recording.

Thanks for your response, sorry for the delay in getting back.  Yes, that works.  However, what I was kind of looking for was the function of the DXi I referenced above, where you would insert the plugin, select the note value (usually 1/4 notes) and sound, then just bounce to tracks and it would render a stereo or mono track the entire length of the song, reflecting any tempo changes, etc..  It eliminated the need to record in real time a click track for the entire duration of the song.  A bit more elegant in my view and something that would be a good "new" feature within CbL. The workaround I came up with is to record a 1 bar 1/4 note hi hat midi clip, paste it the entire length of the song, insert a vsti drum source, assign the midi clip to that sound source and then render that.  Still more time consuming than the ol' PingDxi approach....

I know I gt this to work once back in X3 using the metronome.
But the easiest method to me is use a midi track with what ever sound you want.
Draw 1 measure of side stick, use groove clip looping and drag it out for whole song.

I believe the Stylus RMX had this function under "utilities".

that would be a vst insert

Hi notes of bass/synth bass from old cheesy sound modules are working well for this purpose. Check out TTS-1 basses, you may be surprised. And don't forget to turn off the reverb!
