Right now I am running X2 on my DAW.......the DAW is not connected to the internet.  I would like to upgrade to Sonar Platinum using the "I own an older version of SONAR Producer" upgrade path.  When I install software I usually prefer to de-install the previous version, it just runs cleaner that way IMO.  If I order the upgrade and install it after de-installing X2, how does it know that it's an upgrade?  I still have my serial number from X2.......does the Sonar Platinum ask for it during the install, or do I just need to leave X2 on my DAW and de-install after Platinum install is complete?  The FAQ on Cakewalk says that I can de-install first, but I was just wondering if/when I input my old X2 license.

Thanks

No, the install doesn't look for previous versions nor does it need a previous serial number.
The only place where the upgrade comes into play is when you input your redemption code in your CW store account to register/activate it, it looks to see if you have an older version already registered.
If you do, no problem, if you don't... problem...

So, do I need to go into the CW store and input my X2 license info first?

Yes. There is an option to Redeem using a code which accompanied your purchase. From then on once you download and install the CCC (Cakewalk Command Cenre) the process is automatic while ever you are online.

Using the CCC to download any Cakewalk programs will take care of registering, activating and letting you know when updates are available.
