  • Kingston Bus Solo Issue

Recently I was working on two guitar tracks that summed to a bus.  When I solo'd the bus, Sonar Kingston locked up. Shut down, reopen Sonar and tried again, same thing. The song is playing along, I hit the solo button on that bus, instant lock up! Thinking it might be a plugin, I removed the last plugin I had added, same thing. I tried this several times and finally solo'd a different, non related bus. Sonar locked up! I rolled back to JP and everything seems fine now. Anyone seen this, or anything like it?

Note: This issue has been reported as a bug by TwelveTone, [CWBRN-42298].  Thanks Ken.   I'd like to keep the discussion going so we can help the Cake team track it down.

Any suggestions, help or ideas are welcome.  Thank you.

This issue was split from a previous post.  Here's a link to that post: http://forum.cakewalk.com/FindPost/3330625

No, nothing like that here.    Win7 + Focusrite 18i6 using ASIO.

FYI, Cakewalk's Dan Cate is looking into this one.  I'll pass on anything I learn.

I have just installed the latest Kingston (.32.002) version.
I cannot reproduce this either.

Update: I received a message from Dan Cate.  He was able to reproduce this bug.  Hopefully a fix is in the works.

Thanks Dan.

Try as I might, I cannot reproduce this. Does it happen always or just sometimes?

Just to confirm:
Two audio tracks, I create a new bus, I route the tracks to the bus.
That bus is set going to Master.

I start the song and whilst it is playing I solo the bus.
No crash here.
Are there some conditions I am missing?
No plugs, no other tracks, ASIO interface driver.

I just loaded up the Javier Colon demo (which has 44 tracks and 18 busses) on my seriously underpowered laptop.

I can repeatedly solo different busses without a single lockup

It only happened to me once but as described in the OP, I could not get to to go away.  I went back to JP for fear of losing the project.  Lot of plugs, (mostly stock), project probably 15-20 tracks with lots of tracks archived.  Superior Drummer, midi rendered but the synth was still active.

Just to keep this thread up to date:

Apparently Dan from Cake was unable to reproduce the bus solo bug a second time.  I rolled forward to Kingston again and easily reproduced it so I sent him a dump file of the project.  We'll see what happens.

Paul you are doing great work here. I don't seem to have the bug but that isn't important. What is important is that it should be fixed.
