  • [Solved] Lexington Bit Depth Problem?

The first project I loaded into Lexington was a 16 bit that I was using to transfer finished tracks to .mp3's. It loaded at 24 bits, according to the transport module's thingie that shows the sample rate & bit depth.
In preferences, it is set at 32 bits and won't allow me to change it.  What's up?
(the individual tracks show 16 bits if I click on "associated audio files")

It is hard to tell where you are looking to change bit depth. I have seen "Audio Driver Bit Depth" fixed in Preference > Audio > Driver Settings but this does not affect project bit depth which is set with "Record Bit Depth" in Preferences > File > Audio Data.

Thanks SCook, I was in the wrong place in preferences, it is in Prefs>File>Audio Data. So I changed it there and it looks OK now. But why did it load as 24 bit when it was previously a 16 bit project?

I've noticed that whatever bit depth I choose, all projects (old or new) will load at that bit depth. Wasn't this setting for New Projects only previously?

The settings in Preferences > File > Audio Data are global. Projects can work with a mix of bit depths, the transport module shows the current value of "Record Bit Depth" in Preferences > File > Audio Data.

Record bit depth has always been global and the transport module will show the current setting regardless of what's already in the project. SONAR supports mixing files of different bit depths in the same project.

Thanks, I learned something. Should I mark this thread as "solved" ?
