My only problem with the vid is a certain other DAW is named. I forgive the Beep for that oversight.
A necessary evil in this case because you can't record from one Sonar project into another Sonar project (I tried).
However an explanation and workaround was suggested by one of the forumites (sorry... I forget who ATM without digging up the thread). Basically there is only one Sonar audio engine that can be running at one time so you can't use it to do transport stuff (playback, recording, etc) in two projects at once.
The workaround was to use an older version of Sonar to record the discrete audio tracks (so the source project would/could be SPlat and the target project for the discrete audio tracks could be X3). I did not test that but it makes sense.
Thing is though, as much as it has been streamlined, Sonar is of course a bit more of a resource hog than Reaper. I know having two versions at once going on my system PLUS the screencap software PLUS having the audio stream semi crippled because it's running through Voicemeeter (not the full on Focusrite drivers) I would likely get more audible glitches/dropouts.
Also due to the unlimited demo of Reaper those who only own one version of Sonar (like new users who only have SPlat... and will NEVER have access to two separate versions like we oldster do without hunting down old physical boxed stock) I figured Reaper was a good choice.
And really it was all I had access to aside from my old Sonar installs. I actually really like Reaper as an alternate DAW but I consider it more of a companion to Sonar than anything. I intend to really study it more and use it to hopefully round out some of the workflow things that get in my way in Sonar.
Overall though Sonar is much better for my creative process so as I said... more of companion tool to Sonar as opposed to something I'd use full time.
Soooo yeah, I guess that's probably a long winded explanation but worth mentioning. I did put quite a bit of thought/testing into it and that seemed to be the best "route" (pun intended). lulz...
Cheers!
