  • Inserting guitar track template broke existing drum map

Short story - I had a drum map set up and working for Superior Drummer 2. Then I added a track template for a guitar track, which somehow, despite just being a single track and having no MIDI or drums associated with it, appears to have switched the original drum map on my Superior Drummer track to an empty one ('DM 1') with no outputs assigned. To make matters worse, the presets drop-down in the Drum Map Manager was greyed out so I couldn't reselect the original drum map preset from there - I had to use the menu in track view and spend 2 minutes slowly scrolling through to find the one I wanted (near the bottom).

Has anybody else encountered this?

Any idea at all what version of Sonar the template was created? (Or approx).
What is the current version of Sonar you are running?
Were you able to fix it, and save as a template again, does the issue still exist?
Ta..

The template might have been from X3, or Platinum, not sure. Currently running Platinum. Not tried to fix it, not inclined to go through that process again when I have music to record. :)

If it was created before Everett Update 1 (when Drum Maps got fixed properly, well apart from the UI) I'm not surprised drum maps got screwed to be honest...

I wonder if is is possible the track template inadvertently included whatever drum map was present in the project from which the template was created.

And then maybe inserting that template into the new project would have brought in the other drum map?

Bringing in a new drum map wouldn't be such a problem... overwriting/deleting the current one, however, is. :)

Still seeing this happen, with track templates made in the latest version of Sonar. Before inserting my track template (that uses no drum maps or MIDI at all), I have 11 possible MIDI inputs in the project, numbers 10 and 11 are drum maps with named presets. I insert the track template (an audio track with an FX chain, nothing more), now MIDI inputs 10 and 11 have been reset to 'DM1-' and 'DM2-', I've had extra 'DM3-' and 'DM4-' added, and all 4 of these drum maps are empty. I have to go back to my original MIDI tracks and find the preset for 10 and 11 again and reassign them.

Is nobody else seeing this?

Yes, I can confirm that it is bug. I saved Track Template from project containing several Drum Maps, and immediately inserted it in the same project. Several empty Drum Maps was added and some existing Drum Maps was ruined.

You'd best  file a Problem Report

I realized, that I don't like current report system. Why we should submit reports, if we write it here, and we know that Cakewalk guys read forum? We send it, take number, and most probably we never will get any response or action. It make me feel that developers have very small interest in discovering bugs, much smaller than users who find and submit them. I know that maybe it is not like that, some bugs are fixed, some major bugs are fixed very fast. But I often feel that my reports are just a waste of time.
Why some guys from Cakewalk, who should find bugs by themselves, and add them to the report system, can't read forum and add those bugs too, there are not so many in Problems section, just 2-3 in a day. Finally it is their job, and if users find bugs, that mean that they did it not ideally. It would make users feel that discovering bugs make some sense, that somebody is interested in it.
