Nice to see you've had such a good experience with SPlat, Kenny. Not overly surprising, but still nice!
FWIW, I'm still running a Q9300 w/ 8GB RAM, so I'm all over the performance improvements too.
Hi Steve ,
SPlat is indeed really nice

I'm always looking forward to using it .
I seem to have bonded with it much better than anything else I've used in a real long time .
Runs great on my Win 8 computer that started out life with X3 ... Asus i3 w 6GB Ram .
I'm doing something "a little whack'y " over here .
On Black Friday I picked up a Dell Inspiron 15 w Win 10 64 on it for peanuts ...AMD A6 4 GB Ram

I needed / wanted a test dummy computer w Win 10 to find out if it was worth it to me to consider going from 8 to 10 . Also I wanted something I could just keep on line ...
Now I would be the first to admit that this cheap a$$ed computer falls into 2 category's
1 , it's exactly the type of computer that some people here have taken a vow of never ever using for music ever.
2 , it is so far under min spec to run SONAR , why even bother ?
Now here's what I have found out so far for myself at least .
After installing the full installation of Splat Kingston minus Melodyne and Addictive Drums on my Black Friday Dell computer .
I held my breath for a moment and said OK lets see what happens ....
Hooked up my 2i4 after installing the drivers , set the drivers to ASIO 5 Ms in the Focusrites slider and said OK time to open SONAR ..
I went right to the Showcase -CA-X Amp Platinum .cwt and blew 2 hours blasting away on my guitar to my hearts content ........not even a glitch.....
The next day on the same computer , I opened up a couple of mostly audio projects that I had done in X3 on my Win 8 machine ....
I was certainly very surprised when this supposed under spec POS Dell was able to play a couple of X3 projects of mine that had more than 30 and less than 40 tracks ......
FWIW , I do understand most folks around here pay good money to have a stable machine that can pull 100 to 300 plus tracks w plugs and synths , I have no beef with that and I would like to get there myself
After taking a good close hard look at where I have been at for the past couple of years , I admitted to myself that even on my best day , some of my production techs have been half a$$ed and rather cringe worthy .
So I drew a line in the sand and decided to go into the wood shed and get better at it .
Wound up putting my 2 Mac's and my Win 8 computer away to free myself from all the bells , whistles , plus all the infinite distractions I have feel victim too .
Cleared a little space for work and study and said to myself OK this little Win 10 laptop runs well enough for you to use it as a study tool . Why not just go back to the drawing board and start fresh .....
I'm happy I decided to go there , feels like I'm making progress w SONAR . At the very least I'm not repeating the same actions expecting different results

I guess if there was a point to some of this verb age , it would be that SONAR runs pretty smoking performance wise even if it is being forced to run on a way under spec computer .
thanks for listening ,
Kenny
