Hey Guys,
I was looking for some extension cords for my live rig and I happened upon... well you probably guessed it... Monster Cable extension cords. I found two versions. Both are only 8 feet long and they cost $50 or $100 depending on the features, he he. They are gold plated and mylar coated and blah, blah, blah. What's sad and scary is that this psychological crap works on me. I'm looking at this thinking, how much coating for EM and RF interference do I need? I found some Hosa cords that are the perfect length and are $12 each which I think should do it since they make cables for the music industry but if it's not too off topic, could you guys tell me what you think about EM and RF sheilding and how much is needed? If you have a preferred brand, that would be cool too.

Oh, am I late to read this about Monster Cable, you can bet I'll never purchase their products. A classic case of how attorney will do and say anything at any cost to bill clients and reak havoc upon ordinary people.

Hey Yep,
Thank you for all of that information. I have a question though. Regarding the incoming line, are you speaking of the actually wiring in my home as well? I would think so. I will basically be running the extension cables out of a Furman power conditioner directly into a few Roland keyboard amps. I've the highest quality gear that I could afford and I figured that a $24 investment wasn't a bad idea just to see if there is a difference. Ultimately, I can try the amps without the extension cables and with them to see if I can actually hear a difference. I need someone else's help to run the double blind tests though.

Chipstar, I think you might need to clarify your questions a litte. Also it would probably be helpful to reply in the other thread for the sake forum clarity and anyone else who might care.

Cheers.

Um, no. I meant the thread about power cords that I linked to above. That is what you're asking about, right?

Cheers.

slightly off-topic but a friend was telling me today how he's replaced all the interconnect cables in the studio with digital cable - the stuff you use for Spdif etc.

He reckons it's a big improvement over normal audio cable,- the theory being it's screening has to be that much better.

Kind regards

Dave Rich

Well your friend has more money than sense.

Now can we stop this stupid audiophile crap?

no we cant ;)

Apparently if you by a roll of it and neutrik connectors and make your own,- they work out very cheap indeed.

Kind regards

Dave Rich
