Guitar Center and Monster Cable were made for each other. I hope they're happy together, because they both suck ass.

I stopped, looked at him and said, as clearly as I could "You're right. Never mind. I won't be buying anything today." and handed him the "cheapie" cables, and walked out the door.

Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against the odd 'big name' guitar lead or two but really it's all just a big hype trick

If 'Dire Straits' can record and master such superb sounding albums as 'Brothers In Arms' in studios wired with regular star quad mic cables then it's good enough for me - end of story

And I've actually cleaned the patch panel leads used for that album with brasso. At the time I wish they were gold plated they were so bloody dirty, gave me cramp in my hands.

A ten foot microphone cable did not work from them. It still don't.

Wow another Vintage thread from 2007, but still relevant.

If a music store is pushing a particular brand then it's because they are probably getting a better mark up on that product line.
There are tighter margins on the "good" stuff.
Monster Cable is very profitable to sell and they somehow have become a "name brand".

I bought some monster cables and won't buy them again. What a waste.

Try Accusound for cables. http://www.accusoundcablecompany.com/proaudio2011.html
