Beepster, One of the great things about the aux's and patch points you can now record through a plugin in real time. If you want to eq, compress etc. on the way in you can. For this reason I don't need to use Studio One.

Every project I've started since JP includes at least a few PP/Aux Tracks - one of the best SONAR additions (for me) ever, and there's a lot of new stuff in SONAR that I've liked and used over the years.   That said, I had not thought of recording FX plugins live...   I'll have to try that!

What happens if you change the input to the Aux track to 'None', then playback and compare with echo/no echo?

Enabling input echo will automatically change the track input from None to the first available so that's not going to work. But you could deliberately assign it to the output of a dummy track that's passing no signal (it could even be archived).
