just wondering if someone could please help with 2 things regarding automation.
 
1) For some reason only one automation lane will open at a time when i click the next the previous closes - iam sure this is a setting in preferences , if someone could advise .IN TRACK VIEW NOT PRV
 
2)is there any way of only clicking the autoamtion lane button once to open it ,everytime i click it the track expands out a bit and then i have to click it again to open the autoamtion lane, would be nice if when i click the automation lane button ,ti just expands from ythe first click , is there a setting for this ?

Yes copy and pasting automation lanes from one to another was always an issue but got a quick response and it works prescisly as I need it so thanks .

Can anyone help with question 1 and 2 ?

Hi.. not sure I'm following for either question.
 
Ref Q1. Are you saying that if you click the "+" icon on an automation lane it adds a lane and then closes the current one? If so that is strange behaviour and AFAIK there's no setting that changes that.
 
If you are referring to editing automation in the main track then you can only have one active envelope at any one time. You need to use lanes for multiple all at once editing.
 
Ref Q2. Automation lanes should stay open once they have been opened until you explicitly close them. The only thing I can think you mean is how to see several tracks with lanes open at once. If that's the case you need to turn "Auto track zoom" off. (Shift + z).
 
With that off you can have as many tracks and lanes expanded as you wish. With auto zoom on only the current selected track will display lanes.

when i turn  Auto track zoom" off > problem 1 and 2 disapear (1)no need to click automation on/off button twice to expand the automation lane  (2) and i can expand more than one automation lane (3)and now i have more control over why all the tracks expand and contract when iam only trying to expand one track
