I didn't notice this when  I ran bootsect and got my new drive up and running. Am I to think thisis the boot part of my new drive? How do I 'connect' it to the new drive?" />

The "system reserved" partition is a section of the disk that Windows has set aside for its own purposes. It's pretty much off-limits to you, but it's small and necessary for Windows. And yes, it's part of your boot process, where the software lives that invokes the software that boots Windows.
