I use external FX. To do this, you need the "External Insert" plug.
And also an interface with more than one pair of inputs and outputs.
You right click on the FX bin and select "Insert External Insert"
and the Exernal Insert plug opens.
After selecting my interface's secondary input and outputs, and
then enabling the sends in the plug, Sonar crashes:
"Unhandled Exception
A fatal error has occured.
Module: C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\SONAR\Platinum\SONARPLT.exe
A crash dump file has been... (etc, etc, etc...)"
This only ever happens once in the lifetime of an installation.
After this initial crash, the External Insert plug works fine forever after.
I had this effect in Sonar X3, X2, X1, in Sonar 8.x, and now in Kingston.
It would be interesting to see if it happens after I install the next update!
I have had several interfaces over the years, it is not interface, nor
Sonar or OS 32/64 bit version dependent.
Does anyone else use external FX and have this happen?
