hoping someone here can help.
 
I'm a complete novice with the Access Virus Ti control software. I've started exploring it but I can't seem to get any output sound at all when I use the control software.
 
I'm not altogether sure what I should have connected to what.
 
The virus is connected to my laptop is recognised by software, i.e. when I add an arp using s/w it turns on arp light on the keyboard. When I move a knob on the keyboard it moves the appropriate dial in the s/w
 
I can load a sound into say, patch 1 of 16....and I see that selected on the synth. So communication between s/w and synth seems fine,
 
However, when I press a key on synth I hear no sound at all.
 
Should my output be coming from the synth or from the laptop? I'm assuming the synth as this is my sound source? I have headphones connected to synth.
 
Maybe it is how the track is added in cakewalk? I'm not sure what all the options are in cakewalk, i.e. "simple instrument track" vs "MIDI source" vs "First Synth Autio Out" etc etc
 
If anyone could give me a simple step by step guide how to set this up I'd be really grateful! Or point me in the direction of some resource.

I have a TI Snow.What usually works for me is:
Insert MIDI track + 1st synth output (or 'all outputs' if required.)
On your MIDI track, make sure the appropriate MIDI channel is selected. Channel 1 will trigger the patch loaded in slot 1 on the Virus.

thanks but I still can't seem to get any sound at all.
 
If I have the virus connected to the laptop should I not be seeing devices listed in Preferences->MIDI->Devices? 
 
I have none listed even though the virus control software is seemingly connected to the keyboard, i.e.I can see all patches in the browser etc.
 
When you say, "Insert MIDI track + 1st synth output" - do you not Insert Soft Synth? If so, which of the options do you select in the horribly complicated dialog box? Or do you mean you only select "First Synth Output" from this?
 
Also, when you say set the midi channel appropriately I can't seem to do this....the only option I seem to have is omni.....no idea why.
 
 
Any further help would be much appreicated as its really quite frustrating
