I'm thinking the "give all keystrokes to plug-in" button is to allow the computer keyboard to play notes yet, this is not the case. I can play from the computer keyboard thought the stand alone version yet, not from with in Sonar.
What do the "give all keystrokes to plug-in" button do?

It causes SONAR to ignore the keyboard shortcuts and pass the characters to the plug-in.

It will not play the soft synth?

Only if the softsynth has the capability built in. To use the PC keyboard to play a soft synth SONAR provides a Virtual Controller

I can see the logic in using the Virtual Controller over just using computer keyboard the most a computer keyboard can play would be 3 keys at one time and its velocity could not be set. Don't know if Virtual Controller can play more than 3 keys from a computer keyboard yet I'm pretty sure one could set its velocity.
