I am struggling to find a reason to pay for another year of subscriptions. I plan to upgrade to Kingston tonight so what would I really be missing out on if I don't re-up? Price just does not seem worth it to me your thoughts?
Thanks BMOG, I think this is a valid question and your timing is good since many of the early adopters of Sonar 2015 Platinum are coming up for renewal. It is a great time to reflect on the value of what we have received so far. The answer very much depends on how one uses Sonar and
I believe I am getting "low to medium" value based on the fact that I use Sonar as sort of a traditional recording studio with some midi editing on drums and keys.
Many of the improvements in 2015 have had little or no impact on my work when compared with X3, however, there were a few improvements I did find useful including the custom module in the control bar, midi editing improvements, upsampling, mix recall and Melodyne (although V-vocal worked OK). I had bought AD2 previously but if I hadn't it certainly would have tipped the balance more in favour of Sonar 2015. Most of the other items JB101 so kindly listed relate to looping and chains probably won't ever be of much use to me.
Based on this experience, I am also wondering whether it would be better to save my $150 pa for the next year or two and then assess whether there is a better DAW in the market place at that point or some hardware or software which would be of more benefit. I do understand that other users have found great value in Sonar 2015, especially around things I will not be using such Loops as well as virtual bass and guitar.
It would be great to hear what CW has planned for 2016.
Cheers
