I am struggling to find a reason to pay for another year of subscriptions. I plan to upgrade to Kingston tonight so what would I really be missing out on if I don't re-up? Price just does not seem worth it to me your thoughts?

Thanks BMOG, I think this is a valid question and your timing is good since many of the early adopters of Sonar 2015 Platinum are coming up for renewal.  It is a great time to reflect on the value of what we have received so far.  The answer very much depends on how one uses Sonar and I believe I am getting "low to medium" value based on the fact that I use Sonar as sort of a traditional recording studio with some midi editing on drums and keys.

Many of the improvements in 2015 have had little or no impact on my work when compared with X3, however, there were a few improvements I did find useful including the custom module in the control bar, midi editing improvements, upsampling, mix recall and Melodyne (although V-vocal worked OK).  I had bought AD2 previously but if I hadn't it certainly would have tipped the balance more in favour of Sonar 2015.  Most of the other items JB101 so kindly listed relate to looping and chains probably won't ever be of much use to me.

Based on this experience, I am also wondering whether it would be better to save my $150 pa for the next year or two and then assess whether there is a better DAW in the market place at that point or some hardware or software which would be of more benefit.  I do understand that other users have found great value in Sonar 2015, especially around things I will not be using such Loops as well as virtual bass and guitar.

It would be great to hear what CW has planned for 2016.

Cheers

Great points but X3 was solid and I had no complaints , by far my favorite features in platinum are quad curve with the frequency being visible, vocal sync and comping because I record drums live.  If they never made another enhancement what we have now is more than efficient in my opinion. I guess the real question how much better can it be?  Allowing a Mac version maybe?  If we had a version for Mac I think we can get in the conversation with ProTools because of the solid performance Mac machines provides

I'd rather seen Windows improve to the point where people are saying, "Mac? What's the point?" lol

I know MS is making some big investments in their audio stack in Windows 10, so maybe we'll see that reflected in Sonar pretty soon, yeah? MS is saying they're already getting pretty much ASIO performance out of WDM drivers now and are coming up and with other fixes and changes in the audio architecture so I am hopeful.

The point is, I'd rather Cakewalk focus its resources on music production functionality and not on getting everything to work on competing OS's.

Valid points again if MS could improve Windows to equal Mac performance that would be sweet.  I hope they are reading this thread for those enhancements

That's too funny, as I'm not aware of any Mac performing any better than a Windows computer. They just have different problems :-p

The OP asked, on a public forum, whether upgrading his membership in 2016 is worth it.  An unanswerable question, really, and one that the OP had apparently decided anyway.

However.... looking at the feedback so far, it sure seems that the "yays" outweigh the "nays".   So does that change anything?

These type of threads tend to get tiresome. Upgrade or don't.

In which case; a) don't read the thread, and b) don't post on the thread.

I was going to start a new thread as this one seems to have gone off topic with arguing, but here is my question...

Where do we go to check the status of our subscription?  Where do we go to renew it?

It is nevertheless instructive to read which features get used and therefore are valued and which less so.

Well, I found the pricing page...but I don't know where to check our account status.  I also found that to continue the subscription for SPlat is $199, not $149.  None of them are $149.  Where were you all seeing $149?

I am not interested in the yays and nays. I want to know if I have to wait for some notice from CW to renew or not.

I saw a $99 upgrade deal and am wondering what the "mechanics" of renewing my SPLAT for 2016 will be and when. I did mine on Jan 21st.

It was in the beginning of the year, when we have the chance to upgrade for $149 for the producer version.
