Monthly  updates = the most unproductive time I have ever experienced in 20 some odd years of using cakewalk. I spend more time lately trying to fix problems than I do getting anything done this is has got to stop.. I have a Brand new computer  i7 processor  16 megs of ram thing of upgrading to 32  baaa blaa blaa the computer has not changed the last 5 months the only constant change is a new update every month that never quite fixes anything. and then i spend countless hours in forums and trouble shooting only to get suckered in to next months update. No more im done i cant even begin so say how F*** frustrated I am with this. maybe time to find a new DAW ugggg

What specific problems are you having? Maybe someone can help.

You don't have to update every month.

I've only updated three times this year... specifically to avoid unforeseen issues. The new model actually gives more opportunity to avoid problematic releases. Back in the "old" days we were stuck with whatever main release and limited patches we were given.

Now we can choose from whatever monthly patch works best for us.

Do I think updating/testing/troubleshooting monthly would be a massive PITA? You bet. That's why I don't do it.

I can understand where you are referring to.
A monthly update is also too much for me.
Don´t habe time to learn every month a new feature aso
That´s and some complications with some updates on
my system are the reason why I update only then ,
when I have the time and the patience .
During intensive work I don´t update -
but that not only since Sonar is offering monthly updates - also before-
and with other DAW´s I used-
like Logic and Cubase.
Remember:
Never  change a running system.

Apparently it seems to be one of my Effects if i turn off all the effects the popping and scratchy stuff goes away... Ill admit the new ish turn off all effects shortcut is handy yay for a new feature that works.. So now i just need to track down the offending effect. I have had lots of Freezing and crashing lately. Seems like it doesn't happen on all files. Like some how some files randomly will get corrupted or some thing. or i have to open them 3 or 4 times before Sonar will open it and not crash.. Nine times  out of Ten the Error reporter wont work either. It hangs and i have to close the window.  One in about 20 error reports I have seen complete successfully. As soon as I get a version that is stable and does not make me restart files all the time I wont be changing anything for a long while.

....the only constant change is a new update every month that never quite fixes anything.

That's bold statement that's nigh on impossible for me to reconcile with the list of bug fixes published each month.

I get that you may well be frustrated. I've been taught that when I am angry it's in my best interest to take a twenty four hour breather before espousing my frustration and say things that can sometimes be irrational.

well I simply meant I have had trouble with just about every update in the last 5 months. there is nothing bold about it. it is simply a statement of my experience. My lesson here is Find an update that works and forget about updates for 6 or 8 months at least. If I walked away for 24 hours I would certainly never get anything done.

This should be fairly easy to narrow down.

What plugins are in one of the misbehaving projects? Any 32 bit plugs? Try eliminating any of these.
I think you can safely discount any of the stock Sonar plugins as being problematic - so what's left after that?
