Hi guys, I was wondering if I could install platinum on my Laptop. I currently have it installed on my desktop in my studio which is in my back garden but it would be cool if I could have it installed on the laptop for when I'm in the house and not able to go out to the studio, Just for mixing practice and maybe getting a few on the spot ideas down. Does anyone know if I can do this?
Thanks in advance,
Andrew

As long as you only use one copy of the program at any one time, you can install it on as many as you want.

I have Splat, X3 & X2 installed on 3 different computers

one machine at a time hey.....interesting.....

For this to really happen means that your PCs are
online and some messaging is heppening between
cw and your PCs.

Otherwise how can a standalone pc "off the gride"
be aware of applications being run on another "off the
grid" PC?

background messaging is one reason why I leave my
working PC off the web as much as I can.

I didn't realize this was possible, "as many as you want" but "you only use one copy of the program at any one time"
My business is expanding, and I'm getting a laptop to be more mobile, so good to know there isn't a purchase of multiple licenses involved. Most software seems to be flexible this way these days.

My idea is to duplicate my desktop system onto my laptop, but I wonder if all my plugins (many are not Cakewalk) will also support multiple installs as well ? Guess I'll find out during the process.

The new system is not as open as it was in the past. With X3 and before we received a activation and serial number combo that could be used over and over without Cakewalk even knowing you where doing this. This also made it easy to pirate. Anybody could re sell or post there copy and numbers on a torrent site. You'll see many new members asking questions about X1 etc because those are the pirated version still out there. Certainly no body's going to be a first time purchase of X1...

The new system is very good for us ligit users but bad for pirates. We can still do multiple installs,, but with in reason.. Now you need to activate each copy you install so Cake can keep an eye on your activity. They have mentioned they are going to wonder why any particular serial number starts being activated over and over..... Myself I like the new system as I'm not really into riping off software from small companies...

This is really great policy and I hope they never change that. It's good to have main & backup system, plus a mobile rig all with the same software installed. So easy to transfer projects and just keep on working ...

I reckon CCC keeps track of IP addresses / MAC addresses and if they are always relatable to the same user, it will be OK.
