Well, I bought the Platinum license when it came out but ignored it,
 
Now I am ready to download and install, and i think I will use the CCC.
 
I have seen controversies about the Cakewalk Command Center, but nothing specific I could understand.
 
Is there any reason not use the Command Center?
 
It looks like using the old download method I will need to download and install about 20 separate programs to make it complete.
 
I bought the software direct from Cakewalk, and I already have X2 and X3 installed. Generally the computer is online.

There were some issues with CCC dumping everything on your C drive, but I believe most of that was fixed except some holdout plugins that continue to use C drive regardless of what you say as your preference.   Be certain to check the little 'settings' gear before you pull the trigger to install  
 
And remember that 'rollbacks' are going to delete some things that were not installed by CCC.   Not certain this is still true, but I believe it is.  
 

By default CCC installs everything on the system drive just like the default installation of X2 and X3. The original version did not make provision for alternate locations except for a custom VST folder and where the installers are cached.
 
The latest version of CCC now supports a verbose option which provide more control over where components are installed.
 
All CCC custom settings are accessed by clicking the gear in the upper right of the CCC UI.
 
If you plan on using the default locations on the system drive, then CCC is already configured for that. If you want to relocate plug-ins use the settings screen in CCC. If you want the most control possible, turn on the verbose option in the settings screen.

I use both manual download and the CC. Both work fine for me. 
It depends on your internet bandwith etc. 
I have a 3 gig a month limit because I'm in a rural setting and have to use a G3 network. 
So my DAW is off line. 
I take my laptop to a good connection and I download directly from my account, take that home and load it into my DAW and install/ update without issue,,, just like it was before CC. 
The first install will require reading up on "offline installation". as you'll need a registration key they e mail you. 
While I'm on a good connection I also run CC on the laptop and update Sonar using that method. It's certainly easier than the manual method, so that would be my first choice. 

 
I believe if you want all the lights to be green in the CCC you'll have to redownload the many GBs of loops, samples and other content that you probably already have.  Or you can hide their entries by expanding "Sonar Platinum", right clicking on an item and selecting "Hide this product".
 

Hi. I would say go for it. I have had no problems lately (a couple of issues in the beginning of the year for me). And it is very convenient to have it all in one place.
