I agree that the initial release of Rapture Pro was a bit of a sorry mess.

But since the updates it works perfectly and I've never come across any inaudible patches, so maybe you should revisit it

No, I have paid my last visit, it was after the 2 updates, and still there were inaudible patches, it's well know by others around the net as well. Maybe I was just unlucky to pick those patches ? never the less, they were/are still there. I am done with it, never be caught in a pre order with Cakewalk again. I think they were wise to make it pre order, because if they didn't they wouldn't have got many sales/victims after the initial reports of it's release condition got out.

I would personally love if they did a complete overhaul of MIDI editing that destroys the competition. Everyone mentions how Cubase is the current lead in that area.

I'd also like to see an update to video support for audio editing in film.

Going to laugh when January comes and they surprise everyone with Mac support and finally become the industry standard DAW. ;)

I'm not sure about Cubase, but Sonar definitely needs to add features to MIDI record, and plugins. The same 7 plugins that came with Studio 8 way back are ALL U get and look at what has been done to the included  wave plugins. MIDI is much easier to edit than wav files. I use a dual track record system with MIDI record from 11 controllers and  a wav track recorded from the MIDI track so can hear and use VST processors. Works great and recorded track and always stays in the digital realm.

Hello,
So as the year is coming to a close, and my year-long subscription will ending in January, I'm wondering if Cakewalk has released any information on any planned features either coming up or in the plans for next year? I know in rolling updates it used to have a list of "up next" features, but they don't seem to be there anymore. I want to see what I would be potentially paying for before I commit to the monthly subscription fees for next year.

What happens if U do not renew your subscription at expiry and decide 6 or 12 months later to upgrade.

Here is the FAQ http://www.cakewalk.com/Products/SONAR/SONAR-FAQ#start

Assuming nothing changes in 3 to 4 years, a) there will be a fee of some kind, the current published fee is $199 and b) you will receive the current version of SONAR at that time and upgrades for the following year. If in the period you were not a member some exclusive content was released (there have been a couple so far), you would not receive those.

Well rolling updates are back: A lite version of Rapture Pro and more Style Dials. I can hardly wait.

yeah, although i expect there'll be bugfixes as well

Yes, my understanding is that the emphasis in the next update is heavy on fixes and optimizations. Makes sense, given the big feature addition of patch points and Aux Tracks only a few weeks ago.

I don't see much choice. Hope it's like this for a good few months. Sonar has long been out of balance between new features and fixes/long standing workflow issues. Whilst I've seen many legacy issues plugged with platinum (not enough IMHO as the balance was way off from the start) I'm perceiving just as many new issues to replace the fixes.

Time for a feature freeze to last more than just a month IMHO.

All you need to do is convince the people posting requests for new features to agree with you, and it will happen.

It must be difficult to maintain such a negative attitude.......

I expect they will come out with something big around New Years because so many will have to re-up at that time. I have not really looked at many of the new features because I don't work at it full time, but I'd be happy to get nothing but fixes until 2016. Clip handling, Lanes and drum maps (your welcome), all need some love in my part of the world. I'm playing catch up. One of those weird cases where I have an embarrassment of riches.
