  • JAL Bass in Rapture Session?

Hi-

I loaded Rapture Session for the first time and started with the Bass Guitars from the Rapture Pro Factory Library just to get a feel for what it was like. I only have the demo of Rap Pro installed, so maybe that's the problem.

The "OSC 4String JAL" patch gives me different, seemingly random pitches even when I play the same keyboard key. Is the pitch tied to velocity somehow? I can't play an octave to save my life. I haven't changed the default settings. The pitch is sometimes lower when I play higher on the keyboard. In other words, it's anyone's guess what note will sound when a given key is played.

The "OSC 6String Amped JAL" plays in tune.

The "OSC 6String JAL" patch produces no sound at all, regardless of what range I play in. I do see the notes on the keyboard light up, however.

Is the JAL bass a special case I can read up on somewhere?

My Dim Pro and Rapture Classic sounds seem to be okay.

Thanks!

I have Rapture Pro full version and Rapture Session. I loaded Rapture Session up and loaded each of the patches you list. All played as expected except for volume. There was a volume difference with all three. I used the Def Tech1 Bs mid file from the MIDI library.

Hi John-

Thanks for checking. I'll try playing a MIDI clip; I was trying them out by playing directly from my keyboard. Maybe it's just a fluke with the Rap Pro demo.

BTW, I don't have any particular interest in this patch, but it's the first one I tried after loading Rapture Session and the results were--surprising! I seem to have a knack for finding things that don't work quite right for me in SONAR lately, including apparently random loss of connection to my audio interface. But that's another story...

Thanks again-

There's no guarantee rap-sess and rap-pro are using the  same physical set of files. In fact my rap-sess and dim-pro have two sets of identical files, 3/4 gig of space. So corruption in one would not be reflected in the other.

I should have said that I too used my keyboard as well as a clip. I omitted it because I didn't think it mattered.
