For second test I tried using Rapture (another DXi synth) and it exhibits the same behavior.

I would recommend using version 1.2.2 of Rapture. The DXi version was dropped around 5 years ago. If you do not have a recent installer the update is here http://www.cakewalk.com/S...apture-LE-1-2-2-Update

Thanks scook - I have the newer VST version of Rapture installed, apparently I never got rid of the DXi version.  I'm not using Rapture on a regular basis, I just wanted to test with a DXi synth other than TTS-1 to see if the problem was just with TTS-1 or with all DXi synths.

Unfortunately, Cakewalk TTS-1 is one of my workhorse synths, I use it a lot.  It looks like Cakewalk is on this (per the post azslow3 linked a day ago, thanks mgustavo for opening the problem report!) - however, if there's a good multitimbral VST GM2 softsynth out there that can replace TTS-1 I'd be really interested in recommendations.  Most of the posts I'm finding on that are 5+ years old (granted, I was searching from a phone at 3am, so I'll go back to proper digging for that on my own as well  )

Hi, cbarnabo

I'd like to say that other DXi soft synths have the same problem on Sonar 64 bits (please note I didn't try Sonar 32 bits on my system, but on Music Creator 6 the synths work fine).
Also CW support team asked me to try freezing the midi clips on MC 6 and open the project on Sonar, and I saw it works, as the issue occurs only on real time access to the midi controller, when the project is not running or being recorded.

I also browsed the web sometimes to find a multitimbral GM2 synth, but didn't find one yet. I tried a soundfont file I found on internet, but I didn't like it too much.

Best regards

I did a bit of digging today and must have finally hit the right set of keywords because I found the Sonic-Cat/Luxonix Purity VST softsynth, which I'd not seen before.  Purity does what I want:  16 tracks of GM voices, lightweight, good for auditioning MIDI clips or playing around before mapping other voices from other synths.  There's a free demo if you want to try it out (demo is limited - injects white noise or silence periodically, and won't save settings), or you can purchase the full version for download for $49USD.  I apparently can't post the link for it, but you can find it on KVR, or at "sonic-cat dot com slash purity"

Cbarnabo, thanks for the suggestion. I'll try to see it.

Best regards

@cbarnabo - you WILL be able to post links after I think something like 25 posts, as well as send Private Messages.  (I may be off on the number of posts, but the forum software folks have that built in to help reduce spamming).

Anyways - WELCOME!  I hope you have a blast with the software.  These forums are full of folks who will do their best to try to help you with any issues you may run into, and are well worth checking out for useful techniques on doing things, as well.

Thanks Bob ... I've been using Cakewalk software for literally decades (and was thrilled last year when my ancient 20th-century edition of Home Studio still qualified me for upgrade pricing to SONAR), but I'm finally stretching to where the forums are a HUGE help.  I've had SONAR over a year, but my focus has been almost exclusively using it for live performance (not why I bought it, but it's handling the job really nicely).  Now I'm getting back to arranging and composing (which is what I used to do and why I had originally bought SONAR), and getting a lot of requests to help record & master material (totally new territory for me), so I'm learning on the fly getting up to speed "everything else".

Man, do I wish I'd had this when I was doing community theater sound 20 years ago.  :-)

I've fixed this for the next SONAR monthly update. Thanks for the reports.
This actually broke in 2012 when I did some work on making accurate realtime MIDI timestamping so its not a new issue.
We have to do some magic to workaround timestamping bugs in DXi's by pseudo sequencing live input which doesn't work when there is a tempo map present. I circumvent that now when a tempo map is detected.

Hi

These are good news. Thanks for the feedback!

Also that issue made me think of trying new sounds and news ways to work, but that's cool it's going to be fixed, and on the next update.  :  )

Best regards.
