At least I have a month to plan for the $209 expenditure.

Why do I want 230GB where much of that is devoted to 5, 7, and 11 mic positions that I will never use?
and judging from the vids, it's not anything like a huge leap up in sound quality, is it?

I did like the workflow enhancements.

I use AD2 because it's butt easy to work in, but I don't think it sounds fantastic. BFD sounds fairly fantastic but the workflow I didn't dig at all. I had EZ Drummer for a spell but it's processing is pretty much baked in from the get go.

I'm on the SD3 fence and listening for user comments, many thanks to the early adopters!

cheers,
-Tom

Tom,
The sound library is configured in six (6) convenient download packages.
1. “Software” (approx. 230 MB)
2. “Basic Sound Library” (approx. 40 GB)
3. “Room” (approx. 46 GB)
4. “Surround 1” (approx. 43 GB)
5. “Surround 2” (approx. 52 GB)
6. “Bleed” (approx. 54 GB)

A lot of extra info on their FAQ page

But I don't see anything about:

EZX compatibility.  I was very disappointed with how they work in SD2.  I wanted the EZX gui + the SD2 sound features.

Does SD3 have feature parity with EZDrummer 2?  I never could understand why their consumer product had better songwriting tools than SD2.

EZplayer Pro, I think they included it with SD2 (I had bought it separately before I got SD2).  Are they going to include it?  Are they going to upgrade it?

I think $209 is a bit high on the upgrade price scale.  I'll wait for the sale on the upgrade.

Thanks Bapu! I wonder if all needs to be installed, or if you can do a partial and get by.

Toontrack...always absurdly spendy with the upgrades. I'm sure they'll put  a fuse on this one too, to force people to buy it before the upgrade deal goes away. Ugh.

Not a fan of the $209. but you are getting 6 new kits, so it's like SD3 with 3 new kits and a new SDX with 3 more. 230 GB of samples or 140 or so without the surround means an added expense for drive space. Maybe if I move some things around I can get 140 on a SSD. Hopefully discounters will give a little relief on the price. Figure $99 on the upgrade and $79 for the "included SDX". A little more than I wanted to spend but worth it I guess (Hope). They said there was some mallets and brushes or rods included and a pretty good size Electronic drums selection. So, maybe wont need to get the Roots Mallets ect SDX and any electronic which I wouldn't want to spend any money on if I can avoid it.
