This kind of sucks, as I just purchased Professional, and really need the EQ fly-out function. If i have X3 installed alongside will the feature maybe also be available in Professional? Just a though...

Why? Is it the spectrum analyzer aspect or the "bigger knobs" aspect? I have Platinum, but the only time I find the flyout essential is to create screen shots for articles and such because it looks cooler.

Maybe to be able to easily see and manipulate what's going on ?  I sincerely doubt cakewalk went to the trouble of building the flyout option just for cool looking screen shots.

I also considered going from X3P to Professional, it would be perfect for me who only wants bug fixes to X3P, but I didn't want to lose the bigger eq and luckily I noticed in time that it was only available in Platinum.

I had a comment in another 'line' that talked about the different upgrades. Not the first time CW gave something new and took something away. No condemnation. Just observation. One note says we should not have to pay for what we already had, and another says it is an upgrade and needs to be paid for. Which is it. We already have paid for it. To add it to another version and charge again for it. (If they need third party intervention). I thought they already had it. On well. Is the EQ just a module that can be moved across like other modules. Why does it loose the zoom ability

I must admit it does seem kind of weird that the flyout is only available in Platinum and not Professional. I can understand them excluding entire ProChannel modules in cheaper versions but this is pretty much giving someone half a module instead of the full version. If you're going to include the Quadcurve then give 'em the whole Quadcurve.

I use the  flyout on the eq all the time and it is my preferred way of working with it. it is not essential, but once you have it, I could see missing it. Just because some of you  don't use it does not make it less valuable to someone who does. Now the question the OP has to decide is how valuable? Worth paying for?

That feature is only one of many reasons to go full Platinum...

I noticed this issue some time ago. My solution was to buy Waves H-EQ. It's very similar to the quad curve but has more features, i.e. instead of 4 EQ modes you get 7 and they are assignable by EQ band.

There have only been 2 Platinum exclusive features added since last January. This January I will look at my annual renewal and decide between Plat and Pro.

I don't know, that's why I asked why he "really needed" it. I don't recall anyone saying the QuadCurve was difficult to adjust before the flyout so I tend to doubt that's the main reason...but I won't know until the person responds. The flyout adds a bunch of features in addition to the spectrum analyzer:

  • Correlating frequencies to keyboard notes
  • Input and output metering
  • Readout in frequency and dB of where the cursor sits
  • Ignores graph resolution setting, so you can always have it set to 18 dB while the PC module is set to something else
Because I feel I don't need the flyout, if someone really needs it, I might be missing out on something important that I would find helpful. That's why I'm hoping for some kind of reply that actually addresses my question. Of course if it's just "I have a hard time seeing the PC module," that would make sense too.

Of course not. I never stated or implied Cakewalk built the flyout for cool-looking screen shots. I was simply describing what was the best part about for me. Sometimes you'll get a response more easily if you start the discussion because then someone will go "Well the best part for me is..."

I think you've defined the main difference. If you renewed one-time for $150, you got VocalSync and Drum Replacer. If you renewed for Professional, it was $100 so basically you were paying $25 for VocalSync and $25 for Drum Replacer. That would be a great deal for whoever needs those two "big features," but not worth $50 to someone who doesn't.
