  • Still cannot get Kingston to download [Solved]

Been trying incessantly to download the updates, but it just goes too slow, hangs, won't progress. Was able to get the basic part of Rapture Session, only. Cannot get the other add-ons for it. Kingston itself sticks at about 6.5 percent downloaded. I've tried deleting the cached downloads, but no matter what it doesn't work. This is getting frustrating, I cannot recall such a bottle neck for the past two days--I'm assuming it will work in a few days, but it's bumming me out on a holiday weekend that I cannot use the new tools that many others are already using. All my past updates have been easier to get, my internet speed is fine otherwise.
If anyone has a tip on how to bypass the bottleneck let me know; otherwise, I'll see Kingston next month, I guess.

Hi. Maybe try to download from cakewalk.com, to CCC download folder? I have not had any issues with downloads myself, but it might be worth a try in the meantime.
Best of luck.

Not to add to your woes but I downloaded everything in under 5 mins last night. It might speed up in 4 hours if there is some 24 hour cycle going on here.

I feel your pain.  I, too, have been trying to download the update ever since it was released and I come away with nothing.  I believe it has a lot to do with the amount of content in the update.  All of the samples for Rapture Pro and Session.

QUESTIONS:
1.)  I see where I can download Rapture Pro and Session from the website, but if I take that route -  won't it still show as being needed in the CCC?

2.)  What is the best way to download the Kingston update (the speed improvements to Sonar) without going through CCC?

Thanks

Appreciate the suggestions, folks. I did already try to download directly from CW website, but it says it's going to take 4 days to complete the download, ha ha.  Not kidding, BTW.  I have no idea why, just this once, I am unable to update anything.  And I've been trying off and on, even left the computer on a download all night, and came back and it had not moved at all from the percent downloaded--OVERNIGHT--imagine that!  Well, maybe if this persists over the weekend, I will have to contact CW support and see what they say. But I'm a holiday sourpuss over this, for sure.

Just to add, if i try and download just the Kingston update itself--(not update all) the total amount of content is 420 MB, which is nothing, should normally take me about a minute to download at most. And it just hangs and slows to nothing. So the amount of content is not really the issue here. But I have no idea what is the issue, as of yet. Color me frustrated.

I seem to recall (in the beginning of the year), that some had issues with IP's, when downloading through CCC (IRRC they were in South America). This was acknowledged by someone from the Cakewalk Staff. Could it be an issue of that sort?
My laptop is downloading s bit slower than usual (Wi-Fi), but my studio pc is as fast as usual (connected by cable).
Best of luck.

I would contact your ISP and see what is the hang up. Unless you are on a 300 baud modem 4 days is ridiculous.

Before you do that check www.speedtest.net shows reasonable speeds, waste of time otherwise. The ISP can't control the internet.

If I am understanding you correctly, if you download the files from you Cakewalk account, you place them in the folder that CCC expects them to be, then fire up CCC, and go through the motions, and it 'should' detect that they are already there and then skip the download, verify the files and install them. I say should because I can recall a number of occasions where even though the files were in the correct folder, CCC re downloaded them anyway for whatever reason. I can't recall the actual location that CCC puts the downloaded files, I think it's in Program Data/Cakewalk/Command Center/Downloads, something like that, also likely if you check in the options of CCC in the 'Paths' section perhaps it will give you the location.
