I think I need a break from this forum (), as it seems to be going down the wrong way. It should not be necessary, to act (in my opinion) like children. But as I stated in my posts, it is easy to hide behind (amongst other) online "faces". I did not think the SONAR forum would stoop to this level (s). But then again, who am I to speak / write?
I think this is a sad day (for me at least).
All the best to the grown up people here.
To the rest.............................................. (silence)................

I am puzzled by your post. You want the OP not to have help?

Whilst not quite there yet I'm more or less on the same lines as Zargg71. People are simply out to disagree with everything. I simply stated he needs to check www.speedtest.net before he (perhaps) needlessly contacts ISP (not actually disagreeing with John) and I end up in a long drawn discussion about how the internet works in order to explain, which is a bit of a waste of time. I must remind myself in future to stop engaging in this nonsense and just ignore rather than write.

Actually you are one of the persons that wants me want to have a break from here.
I feel like you are just picking fights.
I have tried (the last year or so) to be helpful to the people needing help (if you check, you might find it to be true).
But bickering is just (in my opinion) childish....
I wish all the best for the OP, and will lend a hand if I can. (I believe I tried in my first post)
But, John... Are you really setting a good example as a host here? I think not...

I try to do my best. I am not perfect by any means. But I do believe that I am not picking fights with anyone. In fact I try hard to not get into fights. Here for example we disagree. I don't see a fight just a different point of view. As to my interchange with Alex again no fight but rather a very different view of the situation. One in which I offered advice and Alex commented negatively about it.  A fight did not occur.

Sorry that you see things the way you do. You have every right to hold your views as you wish. You can PM me to express your thoughts on things like this if you wish. I hope you do stay and help as much as you can.

Here is what you said...

John
I would contact your ISP and see what is the hang up. Unless you are on a 300 baud modem 4 days is ridiculous.

Before you do that check www.speedtest.net shows reasonable speeds, waste of time otherwise. The ISP can't control the internet.

Apparently this is 'negative'. How about seeing this as you giving general advice and me also? That's my attitude, life does not have to be a competition, one does not have to tramp on absolutely everything.

I  have new information to share, still quite puzzling. I've run a few experiments. This problem has occurred suddenly, as I recently (Nov 18th) downloaded the Sampletekk Grand Piano, which had 14 .rar files of 600MB each.I also downloaded and installed a brand new version of Finale with no problem. It did not take long, considering the amount of files downloaded. So fast forward to Nov. 25th, when I learn that the Kingston update is available. That's when the problem started, first in CCC, where I couldn't get any of the available updates to download. Finally got Rapture Session to load, but only the factory content, not any of the add-on sound banks, as of yet. I was able, with lengthy delays, to get one of the two Kingston files (the smaller one with plug-ins only, I believe, about 22 MB to download, doing this from within my account section on the web. All else has failed. Thinking that it was a unique problem to CW servers, I purchased two products from Orange Tree Samples, and tried to download them, but had the same issue on their servers as well. So now I'm thinking it's my computer. Tried a few more things, to no avail. Then went to my downstairs computer (a MAC) and tried to download both cakewalk and the OTS instruments, and could not do it--impossibly slow download followed by a time-out network failed message. So now I'm wondering if there is somthing wrong with my router, but yet my internet speed download and upload are at least 18-35 MB each way, according to speedtests on a couple of different sites, and my browsing experience is fine. I even tried to re-download Finale, and this was slow and quite on me, too. However, I went back and was easily able to download a 600 MB .rar file from the Sampletekk site with no problem. I have downloaded a couple of large .exe files from the web, too with no problem.  At this point I am thinking that there is some sort of bottleneck on the server end of the more popular musical sites, such as Cakewalk, Finale, and OTS. I don't want to purchase anything else from Native instruments just to test it out until I figure out what's happening.
So at this point--it's not that I cannot download anything, it's just from certain sites, the ones I most want to use at the moment. And because it's Black Friday, it is possible that there are just too many users in my neck of the woods (Massachusetts) trying to download simultaneously. I know that seems strange given it's now been a couple of days since the release of Kingston, but I think I will just see how this plays out in the next few days--perhaps after Cyber Monday. Since I am able to download other large files from other sites of similar types, I have to conclude that it is beyond my control and eminates from the servers from the popular companies. But I won't know for sure for a while to really test this hypothesis further.
I have made no other changes to my music computer, which is dedicated 100% to only music--I use my Mac for other stuff, and that computer has the same exact issue. In a way, it's almost fascinating to me, but unfortunately a gigantic waste of a long weekend.

Sounds like the best plan of action is to just wait for the smoke to clear. Black Friday has spread far beyond the borders of the USA and everything seems slow. I usually have a 50 mb per sec transfer speeds. Thanks to Alex for reminding me to run Speedtest and finding out it's down to 35 from 50. It's never been that slow.

Kingston will be there for a month.
