New features are great and having fun digging in, but please oh please, can we update the look? Just a little. At least the control bar and highlight colors. For how many years now have we been staring at the simulated 2 color, light blue 1980's calculator display? Make us feel like we're working with a brand new product instead of yet another incremental upgrade. I would really appreciate it. I realize it's bordering on nitpickiness, but we've been staring at the same look for a long, long time.
Thank you.

You must try Panu's Duckbar.   I believe a new version will be available in a couple of weeks...

I like the look. Just my opinion.
Lots of users use Panu's Duckbar which he says will be uodated for sonar 2015 soon. I used it for a while but realized i liked sonar the way it was out of the box better.

+1 to OP. I installed Platinum today (jumped from X1) and I would really appreciate seeing some GUI improvements in terms of colors and contrast. At least give use more options to customize colors of selected/active tracks, clip bacgrounds etc. FX buttons in FX bins are really ugly and look "toyish". What was wrong with X1 look?

I used Duckbat in X1 and created a really darks skin where track strips in console and track view were of same dark color (similar to the color of Control bar). But it took me some time to edit each picture and pack it back to Sonat exe... We need an official solution, easy to setup and use.

I like the way how we can change colors of tracks. But because the resulting color is much brighter than the one I select from palette, I cannot achieve a relly dark skin. I want to have the same black default color of tracks that is now in Track view also in Console. The grey one is really really ugly...

I am going to file a feature request. Please, anyone who wants more color options go and file an official feature request.

Ditto. I've played with the Duckbar stuff, but it shouldn't take much to give the native software itself a few more options on the look. So much time is spent improving audio and production features, which is a good thing btw, but it seems like the interface design team is coasting. Think of your favorite car coming out with engine, handling, etc improvements every year, but with the same choice of colors and body style...borrrrring....
Photoshop did a revamp a few years back giving the user a few different darkness levels for the main interface at least, which would be a good place to start. In the color customization, why not add giving the user a choice of highlight colors? Or multiple colors for different sections. How about different font and background colors for the time display, doesn't seem very difficult to implement. My .02 anywho.

Beta out in a few days !!! Thx Panu !!

Folks - you really don't need to do much with it as there are themes already built in (I've used "Yellowstone" since X11, then X2 then X3 with no issues). And there is a backup solution that gets involved if you wish to undo any changes.

I have asked this in a different thread:  Please Cakewalk - just indicate whether you are working on color flexibility?  If you are great!  If not, perhaps we will not have expectations.
THANKS.
