The Tranzport, another great little device, has been discontinued

i love mine --

i have the alphatrack as well  but use the tranzport to be in a seprate room when tracking acoustic guitar and drums


well -- guess i'll use it until I have an OS that doesnt have drivers for it - -sigh

Perhaps Frontier Design will revisit the Tranzport once the allocation of new wireless frequencies settles down?

It's sad that a company like M-Audio, who put out what I consider cheap crap products that can't withstand a year of light use, flaky drivers and bad user preset editors, just keep on trucking along making money (on rehashes of the same basic product) but if you build something that doesn't break or become obsolete you have to drop the line because it because it becomes a drain on resources.

Do you think that's the problem?  Or is it a function of a limited user base?

Probably both, but it's just a guess.  You have two somewhat similar products; one gets a new version, one gets discontinued.  The main difference between the two is that the discontinued one is wireless and uses the 'old' 2.4 GHz frequencies.  Many of us may already have one (and if you don't, find one and buy it), but that doesn't help future potential users, so I'm hoping they will reconsider and develop a new one with even better range on a different frequency.

Mod Bod, this is what the Central Scrutinizer had to say at the Frontier Design Forum when asked why the Tranzport was discontinued:

"Given the economic downturn and the already long life span of TranzPort, we concluded this was the best time to end manufacturing of TranzPort.

We'll continue to offer customer service on TranzPort through email and our website."

    I'm using a Transport on Widows 7 x64 with the v1.5 installer with out any issues.
   I was gettin BSOD on shutdown if I forgot to unplug it before this update.
Now everthing is working fine.

Good news.

To which update are you referring?  SONAR 8.5.2?
