  • Piano Roll View will not remain docked PROBLEM SOLVED

I've upgraded to X3 Producer from 8.1 Producer although I have a new DAW and the only version ever installed on this new computer is X3

 The problem:
When I open the Piano Roll View and Dock it into the docking station, and then save and close the project...when I re-open the project the Piano Roll View is no longer docked in the docking station and I have to open it again and re-dock it. This happens every time I open the project after saving and closing it.

Even if I save it as a Project Template the Piano Roll View that is docked in the docking station disappears and I have to open the Piano Roll View and dock it again each time I open the project or open the template.

Is this normal?

Thanks,
Pete

Problem Solved

It has to do with Screensets.

Keeping the Piano Roll View open must be saved as a Screenset. Once you save it as a Screenset and then save the project, it will open again with that screenset.

Also, Screensets can not be saved as a template and will have to be re-created each time you start a new project. However you can import screensets from previous projects.

So you're saying the problem is not that the project opens with the PRV undocked, but that PRV just isn't open any more? In any case, try clicking the title bar icon at the upper left, and choosing Disable Floating before docking it.

X3e did have issues with the persistence of views and pane-divider positions that have been fixed/improved in Platinum. For future reference, the solution to many of them is to undock and unfloat the view, change whatever options are not "sticking" (e.g. Grid Resolution Follows Snap), and then re-dock the view.

brundlefly...hmmm, interesting.

Yes, I was having a problem with the pane-divider positions but did not post that. However once I positioned things the way I wanted them, and then saved it as a Screenset, everything seemed OK. But as I mentioned, screesets can only be saved per project and can't be saved as a template. So these things will have to be reconfigured and saved again as a screenset (or imported as a screenset from a previous project) each time I start a new project.

Now I'm experiencing a lot of crashes but that's another problem I'll deal with later in another post if I don't figure it out myself before then. For now I'm calling it a day. It took me all day to figure out the above problems. LOL

Thanks for all your help.
