  • As we near one year of a subscription model, what say you? Are we better or worse off? (p.21)

Yewsguise is still at it.

Since I got home 2 hours ago I've mixed two songs and I thought I'd drop in for some relaxation.

Now I have a headache.

I've got stop reading all this drivel. Except of course, Straummy's post was right on. SPLAT is what bugs do not what they are.

actually...there are only a couple of "guyz at it"... [that take up the majority of posts in this thread].  hhhmmm.

I'm totally stoked for Cakewalk 2016.  We are MUCH better off....if you were to list all that has occurred over 2015 with Sonar Platinum.  There's A LOT of [other companies]great plugs, etc coming out now too...........but I'm making sure I'm going to be able to totally be ready, come Jan 21 to make sure my Cake always can taste its' best, for the next 12 months.

In 2015:

Bought Cubase 7 and upgraded it to 8.
Upgraded Reaper 4 to 5.
Upgraded Studio One v2 to v3.
Demoed Samplitube v?
Bought and sold Bitwig.
Sold my copy of Ableton 8.
Bought Max and added it to my arsenal.

I heavily tested each program and upgrade for the past year. Made a few tracks in one, moved on to another, watched numerous demos and spent far too long on forums figuring out how to do the same thing fifty different ways across all programs. I was unhappy with Sonar development X1 through X3, and decided that I was going to find something different to use in 2015. I completely lost faith when I found out that Gibson was taking over the company, but it's turned out to be the best thing that's happened to Sonar.

I started seriously recording a new album two weeks ago, and my host of choice is Sonar Platinum. It does everything I want with a minimum of fuss. The stability has greatly improved over other versions, even 8.52, which was my all time favorite. Bugs are squashed, dozens at a time. If a new update introduces a bug, it takes a few days usually to get fixed. Not months like it did when an older version (Sonar 7?) was motorboating my Lynx cards. The workflow fits what I do. I get remix tracks out, or ghost write, and people want to take me out for a beer to pick my brain about how I did it. I don't get the same results with the other programs. Between Lexicon/Valhalla reverbs, Slate plugs, and Sonar, I feel like I've found the holy grail of recording. This is how I imagined it twenty years ago, and now it's here.

I can see no downside to the current model. Even the subscriptions were on sale this summer.

I can remember scraping together money for a recording studio when I was young, and paying 100.00 an hour just so the guy could spend two hours setting up the drum mics and get the levels right. If you can't make brilliant art with what's available, then the problem lies with you and not the tools.

There's nothing in life that's perfect, software included. But, Sonar is so much better than it's been for a long time.

If we get a new features freeze with nothing but fixes for a couple of months, then shouldn't we also get a fixes freeze with nothing but new features for a couple of months?

Seriously though, if Cake's problem statistics showed that new features were the root cause of the majority of bugs? I doubt they would have got the votes to move to a model that would ultimately introduce tonnes of bugs each month. How would they ever catch up without exploding staff positions exponentially with each release?

I look over at other software offerings who give you new features in one hit and then do nothing but fixes for the next 6 months. Annnnnndddddd new bugs, errors and inconsistencies continue to crop up, despite not adding anything new in way of new features! Could it be that altering the internal protocols of various sums, new feature or not, is what causes the majority of errors? Combined with the OS company constantly tinkering with how their platform does internal processes?...

But look who I'm talking to? I mean, there's so many professional software developers in this thread. They obviously know all this, so I'll just return to guitaring the s**t out of this track!

Your first post doesn't answer the question "what you would have them do to address the point head on?"

Perhaps I shall abstract the answer for you now from the quote pasted a zillion+1 times now... And even put it in bold in case you might miss it.

Doktor Avalanche Bring on regular stability releases and schedule them so we know in advance is my opinion. The current model is a good start, please tweak it.

I hope you are finally happy now. This has been pasted now a gazillion times. The VERY first post I wrote,.

At LAST, we get to it, and perhaps some chance of you grasping everyone's irritation.

You have just explained - and we all knew all along - that you equate "address the point" with "do it the way I say".

Now, everyone who's actually sane would equate "address the point" with, you know, "address the point". Which would include the option for Cakewalk to say "yeah, see what you're getting at, but no, we don't intend to do it that way". Which is what they have done.

Your stance here seems to be I AM GOING TO JUST SAY THIS OVER AND OVER TIL I GET MY WISH.

Please, for the love of God, stop.

Wow... what trainwreck this is.

I'd like to point out that I am constantly pointing out bugs and defiencies that I find in my travels. No one seems to crawl up my butt about it (usually).

Funny that.

You should try responding to a thread entitled 'As we near one year of a subscription model, what say you? Are we better or worse off?'

Hint. Even if you write 'better off' like I did, don't ask for the monthly cycle to be tweaked or even mention 'old bugs'. That is heresy here. Not allowed in an open discussion. Apparently trolling...

Alex, is this genuinely why you think people are so fed up with you?

Or is this just part of a "Make myself look like a victim, barrack room lawyer ploy"?

I think several people here have expressed very clearly what their issue is - do you not understand it, or not want to understand it?

I have not seen anyone complain about discussing improvements to the monthly cycle.

Shouting something over and over and over again at the top of your voice, wherevere you go, is not discussion.  There is a word for it.  In fact, when I worked in mental health, we had a specific term for it.

LOL you and Kev asked me to answer the question about 5 times. I gave you the same answer about 5 times.

Then you ask me to STOP repeating! Even when I edit the post to most simplest form, now apparently I'm not leaving an option for cakewalk to respond???? Forgive me if I no longer respond your comments (I suspect you won't). This is just simply baiting...
