I queried about Rap Pro file path management before it even got released. Never got an answer so I just took the risk thinking it must have been sorted out, it's just too obvious not to. I was wrong. Sadly lessons were not learned from Dim Pro and Rapture days, I would regard file path management in settings as a basic feature in the UI nowadays, esp when you look at other products. You can hack the registry (if you are brave), or mklink (if you are into spaghetti snakes and ladders). It's a bit like Linux in 1990.. Anyways... even if you do all that it's still a mess.

We were promised another RP service pack a long long time ago in a galaxy far far away, sadly has still not materialised. Instead we see this 'give away' (not clear if there are exclusive features with this or not) which was not announced at launch time, would have been nice to know back then this would happen . Well whatever. Not against this cut down version of Rap Pro but paid Rap Pro customers appear to be forgotten about. If they haven't been forgotten, then the wait time is unacceptable. Ta.

Oh but the Rapture Pro force is strong. Patience...it's coming soon.

If Session is "greatest hits" of Pro, Yoda deduces sound files are subset. So why not sprinkle some laser dust on the Session installer and, if Pro is installed, permit it to point to the existing sound files. Thereby saving us Jedi another 4 gig of space for exploring other galaxies....

As regards Rapture Session, will the CCC download force all 4GB of the content onto the C drive, as it does with Dim Pro?  I would like to download it, but cannot do so if it is going to have to be on my C drive, which has limited space.  I would much rather have it on the drive I use for samples/content, but the CCC doesn't seem to allow this.

If that is still the case, it really needs to be fixed.  I don't use Dim Pro anymore because of this.  If it is possible to reroute the sample content, please let me know how.

Thanks!

I keep all my samples for Cakewalk instruments on a separate drive. The five Rapture Session sample libraries for different instruments can be downloaded individually to the C drive, moved to a different drive, and then you can use the mklink symbolic link command or a registry entry to "point" the instrument to the new sample location.

Sure would be nice if the installer provided an option to choose the install location. Although I'm an active fan of the Cakewalk team and the product improvements, I can't understand why this isn't basic functionality put into all Cakewalk products as a basic install option. This is standard practice for installers of any product.

The work around is asking too much of us.

In all fairness, while I enjoy the monthly "goodies", it's the maintenance updates, and transparency of issues addressed, which allow me to troubleshoot system discrepancies. I'm not a huge fan of bloat, but everyone likes new toys. I appreciate the listing posted in each update regarding functional program improvements and send the unsung programmers my regards.

Yes, it certainly would...but meanwhile, there's a solution. Do it once, and you never have to think about it again.
