I have a track with main vocals and backing vocals on the same track (I know I know) However they are not bounced down (rendered) my question is is it possible to place them on seperate tracks so they can be mixed individually (Main Vox/backing vox)?

Thank you

Just have a look at your take lanes - you might get lucky!

The only other way this would be possible is if they were recorded on the separate halves of a stereo track.

Otherwise I think you're scuppered mate.

Mute the lane(s) with backing vocals and bounce the lead vocal to a new track. Repeat with backing vocals. Or clone the track to as many new tracks you need, and mute and/or delete the unneeded lanes from the resulting tracks.

Or just copy and paste the BV on a new track.

Wouldn't drag and drop work too?

Should you ever ended up with them blended and not in separate take lanes, you might try using the polyphonic version of Melodyne and deleting all the blobs you don't want (after cloning the track, of course).

That's a lot more work but might save you provided the background and lead don't sing the same note(s).
