I thank you a lot for that comment, Craig! It actually warms my heart I feel like a newbie here, but try to help where I can.
All the best.

We're ALL newbies here, it's just that some have more experience than others

Anyone who thinks they've mastered recording is misguided - there's always more to learn. I have the privilege of hanging out with some very high-level recording engineers and musicians, and they often mention some tip of mine they've read and found useful. And then more often than not, they'll tell me about some variation on it they came up with on it I never would have considered, or some cool tip of their own. I think maybe one reason why they are high-level recording engineers and musicians is because they realize how much they don't know, so they're always looking to improve.

Despite working with SONAR constantly since its inception, I continue to learn all kinds of useful tips from these forums, and they come from all levels of users.

Just had another session of instability last night.
A project I've been working on for a few weeks in Plat-JP, froze during export (wav) three times. No rhyme or reason.
Exported fine once, tweaked a little EQ, the next export froze. Had to terminate Sonar in taskmgr. Opened project, export worked this time. Tried to export to a different format (mp3), froze again. Terminated Sonar, restarted, exported mp3 fine. Worked a bit more, one more freeze on export. This time I restarted Sonar, exported both wav and mp3 with "Audible Bounce" on without freezing.
No error msg, no warning, nothing to troubleshoot. Don't know where to look.
Opened up X3, worked on another project without issues. Exported several times in X3, no freezes.
Something is amiss, but I have no idea where to start.

you can look in the windows event viewer, if sonar hasn't "grabbed" the error itself there might be something there

maybe there's room for a feature request, to enable some kind of "debug logging" for these kinds of issues? (where sonar doesn't realise its crashing)

good luck!

I may have a hint for the bakers.
I did do something last night that I almost NEVER have done before.
Project is nine audio tracks, only a few plugs I use often.
I had one instance of FabFilter MB loaded. I set "Linear Phase" on, "Oversampling" on, and "Look Ahead" on.
I was exporting to see if I could tell a difference with these settings.
Could it be with one of these options?
However nothing was changed between the freezes and successful exports.

If the FabFilter is already oversampling internally, which is likely, could upsampling in SONAR be the culprit by pushing the sampling rate into an unacceptable range?

Thanks Craig,
That sounds reasonable. I will play with it tonight. But, not being immediately reproducible, I may just bang my head against a wall for a while instead.
As I said, I don't think I ever used "Oversampling" before, that may be the culprit.
