Hi all, been using drum replacer today and when I render the track the individual hits vary a lot even tho the original track doesn't. This is even if I have the small dyn button turned to 0 in drum replacer. Any ideas as to why this is. Thanks guys.

Which synth are you using to render the hits? There may be some randomization on the synth patch itself.
Another thing you can test is dragging the MIDI out to a new track and inspect the velocities on the MIDI data itself.
Just select the DR clip and drag it to a MIDI track to extract the MIDI using ARA.

Hi Noel, I have recorded addictive drums as audio to a track, so I have a kick track and all hits are reasonably close, not the same but no big variations. I have then created region fx drum replacer and made sure all hits are detected. I then import my own wav sample into drum replacer and double check through the whole song and it all sounds ok. I then exit the drum replacer editor and right click on track and go to region fx - drum replacer - render fx. When the track renders there are big variations in some of the hits. Maybe I'm using drum replacer wrong and this is not the purpose of it.

IIRC, to flatten the dynamics, you want to set the control to 100%, not 0.

But perhaps more importantly, it doesn't make much sense to use Drum Replacer on a synth drum track except maybe for experimental/testing purposes. If the track originally came from a synth, that means you either have the MIDI already, or can extract the pattern from the synth to a track to use with a drum sample player like Session Drummer or simply a another synth that has the sound you want.

Working with the MIDI and sample player will give you more control over timing and dynamics, and the ability to easily change the pattern.

Do you mind posting a screenshot of your Drum Replacer display (the one that shows the peaks of your hits)?

And just to be clear, you only notice these variations in volume when you render?

EDIT:
I'm definitely seeing the behavior you are. I have a DR instance where my sample is just one note from TruePianos (not a multisample) and I definitely hear variations in the played back sample that I didn't hear when it was in Drum Replacer.

Just as an update, this was a legitimate issue and was fixed by one of our developers. Thanks for pointing it out!

It depends on your buffer size, so if you're blocked and can't wait for the next update then you may be able to circumvent the issue by changing it.

John just checking back now, sorry for not posting screenshot, no time at the moment. Anyway thanks for the great response.
