So I took 4 measures out of a song and now I have 4 measures of blank space. So I simply just do "select all" then "From Now", I then drag all the clips to the right 4 measures over. Now when I do this everything moves over fine however the automation stays where it originally was so this then messes up my alignment. The other way I tried is just selecting everything by clicking and draggging over the clips then moving them. However, when I do this the automation from one of the tracks is copied to all the tracks and this is just a huge mess.

My only solution is to manually click and drag each clip over one by one, but this takes like 20 min when you have almost 100 tracks.

Anyone know any solutions to this. It would really save me a lot of time.

Thanks for reading.

So I took 4 measures out of a song and now I have 4 measures of blank space.

Next time select all, drag in the timeline across the measures you want to delete, choose "Cut Special," and check everything that's available, especially including automation and "Delete Hole." It's somewhat like ripple editing with a video editor. Everything to the right of the right cut point will move over to where the left cut point started.

So I simply just do "select all" then "From Now", I then drag all the clips to the right 4 measures over. Now when I do this everything moves over fine however the automation stays where it originally was so this then messes up my alignment.

In Track View, choose Options > Select Track Envelopes with Clips. Then the envelopes will remain "attached" to the clips.

If you still have the original project with the first four measure still intact, go back to it and when deleting the four measures, use Delete Special, and check "Delete Hole".

If you can't go back to that version or don't want to because you've made other changes since, the best method is probably to select all tracks and cut everything from the current starting point (From=Now) to the end (Thru=End), and then paste it at 1:01:000. Use Cut Special and Paste Special to make sure everything is included and the starting track is correct.

As always, use Save As, and modify the project name when saving after massive changes like this. Better yet, save to a new name before you make the changes.

Thanks Anderton and brundlefly. Both methods worked great. Yeah I always make sure to save as a new file, never want to lose old versions or save over with a possible mistake.

Thanks again guys you are very helpful.
