Earliest version for me was Cakewalk 2 (midi only) that came bundled with a midi interface I purchased (CMS?). I upgraded numerous times, but haven't gotten every version. This year will go from Sonar 6 to Sonar 8, now that the dust has settled on some big studio projects. (Yes, I'm old, dammit!)

I'm sitting looking at one in my studio. It doesn't get switched on, but it looks nice!

Did Anyone notice that Cakewalk Pro Audio 7 isn't on the list?

Was it 7 or 8 that we got the free (and easily justified) upgrade on?

Hey Bitflipper. Does this list still exist? I read it a couple of months ago but the link now seems to have been hijacked:(

Bingo! Same bundle I bought late in '88 or early '89. MPU-401 MIDI interface with Cakewalk 2.0a for DOS. Still have the floppy and the metallic red on gray user manual here somewhere. Maybe 25 pages.   CMS = Computer Music Systems IIRC.

P.S. I recall that Cakewalk/Greg Hendershott subsequently had a falling out with CMS over licensing/payments, and I had to whine a little to get my copy of 2.0 registered so I could get the upgrade price for 3.0.

Prior to that I used Voyetra SP Gold and before that I used some no brand sequencer that required a dongle.

up to 19 now. X1, X2, X3 and Platinum.

for some unknown reason I skipped SONAR 2.

At 20 do I get a free juan?
