Is anyone here using a TEC breath controller with Sonar?  I have one and no matter how a set the settings I find it REALLY hard to blow.  This is not a problem on my part, I am a trombonist and have plenty of breath power, trust me.  When I used it with Vienna Instruments as a cross-fade controller, getting it to go from silent to the loudest volume is INSANE!  I feel like my head is going to explode!  :-)  I can, of course lower the maximum setting, but then it will not allow me to reach the highest levels of dynamic cross-fade.  Anyone here having a similar problem?

thanks,

Mike

When you say 'the settings', do yoiu meant in the VSTi or in the TEC's app itself?

I don't have one, but I do have and love my breath controller (WX5)

I have it and I find it quite sensitive, nothing like the problem you mentioned. Maybe try reducing the "Sensor Max" setting. Do not reduce "MIDI Max", this will not help.

Also try monitoring the actual MIDI CC values coming out. On Windows you can use the MidiOX. On Mac OS you can use Snoize Midi Monitor. If it gets to 127 (the maximum midi value) you have a problem somewhere else, not in the breath controller.

I also forgot to mention, try setting the bleed valve differently. I like it with quite some flow and it is perfect for me. Others say it is better completely blocked (no flow) but I find the latter setting harder to control and fatiguing. Your mileage may vary...

Been thinking about putting my order in for one of these. Good to hear some feedback on how it actually works rather than just all the praise I always see.

I can honestly tell you this device fully deserves that praise. It's a brilliant concept, very well implemented and while not exactly cheap, it is not unaffordable either.

THIS

I am using one with a Kronos and a little fine tuning of the valve goes a long way, along with using its control panel to adjust its settings and dont forget to write them to the device

Still not as expensive as a Hornberg hb-1 ;)
The price for the TEC is great. No complaints there at all.

Just looked at the price, from comments I was expecting worse that 100 dollar, that's nothing on my WX5, which of course is a much more substantial thing, but I was expecting something expensive. For something pretty unique and probably really expresive (going by my wx5) it looks a good price, especially for wind players when the wx7 is out of reach.
