Your scroll lock is engaged on your keyboard. Disengage it and the screen will resume updating with the timeline.

i found the answer ty.

"The Now Time is not smooth during playback or scrolls out of view
If the Now Time does not update smoothly during playback, press the PAUSE (or BREAK) key on your keyboard to make sure you didn't inadvertently put SONAR in CPU conservation mode.
If the Now Marker scrolls out of view or off of the screen, press the SCROLL LOCK button on your keyboard so that SONAR follows the Now Marker."

still ty CTStump, i found it before i saw your post. :)

What's "SONAR in CPU conservation mode" and where to read about it? Thanks.

When the "PAUSE" button is engaged the GUI updates at a slower rate thus saving CPU cycles used by the software. The proformance gain is helpful in projects with large Vst counts amd tracks. If for instance your seeing overloads in the CPU meter in Cakewalk pressing the pause will lighten the load. You will also loose instaneous updates for automation data( what you see not what is happening) and fader movements so be prepared to work with that prior to switching it on.

Hope that helps.

I have a lighted keyboard which unfortunately uses the scroll lock too turn it on. I have too remember to turn it off when using Cakewalk pretty every time due too "Old fartdum", yes, I know the scroll lock button well my friend.

You can't bind to another key either...no matter how hard you try(lol).
