• SONAR
  • Strange Aux Automation Behaviour... Or maybe not?

Hi guys, I am trying to work out if it was some sort of pilot error, but I encountered the following this morning:

I opened a mix which contains a lot of Aux Track volume automation. I am submixing sections of an orchestra to group-mute entire sections when not needed, so the automation is pretty-much either Volume at 0 or Volume at - Infinity.
This morning the entire project had its Aux automation at +6 and -Infinity+6. In other words all the Auxes (about 6) had their volumes pushed up by 6db. These tracks are not physically near each other on the layout, so an accidental group "grab" can be ruled out.

Can anyone think of how I might have managed to do this myself? If not, I think there is a ghost in the machine.

I had an issue the other day when after changing a number of faders using a quick group I let go of CTRL and adjusted another fader and noticed that all of the other faders in the project changed

Unfortunately undo does not record fader moves so I had to re-balance the mix

This has only happened once in a gazillion hours of using Sonar and has not happened again and I can't reproduce so I put it down to a "one off" but I would be interested to know if you were using groups or quick groups on other tracks before the change to the others

Hi Boydie, anything is possible - I work quite fast, and on a 2 1/2 hour concert there's going to be a lot of grabbing and letting go ... of faders, that is!  :O).
