  • Still no Sonar Platinum demo? (p.4)

I agree with that Steve, but it may have to be the Artist version. There were threads early on of people intending to exploit loopholes to redeem extras in the other two (this may have indirectly fed into why a "true demo" never showed). Hopefully those have since been closed, and a demo itself should have no "redemption codes" included anyway.

For folks truly new to SONAR, 30 days is not a lot of time, but definitely will allow them to use it. A 30-day, fully functional Artist version would be good for this.

From my perspective, I have purchased most things I have demo'd, so the "fully functional" carries a lot of weight.

I honestly believe that charging for a demo version, even selling it as a month's membership (so it would be fully featured), seems a little bit mean.

Absolutely!

Absolutely agree with this too!

I'm confident that Cakewalk will stay true to their word and provide a demo.
Maybe it'll be at the end of the Sonar 2015 cycle, a few months before Sonar 2016 begins?

Of course, I like to think that Cakewalk are simply stalling, and putting all their efforts into making Sonar as snappy and bug-free as possible.  This is always a good thing.

We're only 3 months into this release. I can't remember a previous demo being brought out in that time frame. Usually in the second quarter after a release from memory..

Hi Mike-

Right, and if they hadn't said "we want to offer a demo on day 1" (see http://forum.cakewalk.com/FindPost/3144986) it wouldn't seem particularly strange to me that they haven't said anything further about it yet.

I don't know how to explain it. I'm aware of what they said but like many things maybe they are snowed under. For example there hasn't been much of a Cakewalk staff presence on the forum of late. That usually indicates how busy things are. Not sure whether that is a contributing factor. Like many others I'm sure you've noticed that when there's no real answer Cakewalk don't always offer any comment at all.

I personally think delaying the demo is a tactical business plan.
Release with intro offer and dedicated users purchase,
New customers may jump on wit the idea, especially with a monthly plan available.
Dust settles and stray interested parties jump on board as confidence is the product increases.
Time passes and to mop up any final strays on the fence, make demo available.

I personally think delaying the demo is because of their usual chaos that comes from overstretching resources, exacerbated by the new release schedule
let's see where we are in 12 months' time

It will come soon enough when the CCC infrastructure is ready to handle it. Rapture already has a demo. I'm not surprised there's a huge delay as demo mode needs to be integrated into Platinum rather than (as in the past) be installed as a separate package. It sounds simple but doing this so it can't be cracked (which of course will be inevitable) is a tough nut. I'm happy it's been delayed anyway, I'd prefer bug fixes to have more of a priority (which seems to be what is going on).... and besides I don't need a demo personally.

I'm not understanding why it's such a priority for people who are already using Sonar. I can see it's probably number one priority for those who are not.

This does not bode well for the home team. S1 3 was released yesterday and has a Demo

Since my old guitar bud with be using S1 (from buying a PreSonus AI), I am gonna be forced to learn this anyway; but ironically they released features I actually want (the track arranger with scratch pads), and offer cross-grades??

This thread instantly came to mind as I began the download.

Well there is a demo mode in Sonar. Simply pay for a month and do not use it. After that it will revert into demo mode.
