What will it cost me to renew my subscription to Sonar Platinum when it expires in December? $149 for one year or $199?

The published renewal price is 199.

Which may have nothing to do with how much it actually costs

I see 149$ and I'm still on X3.  I'd be surprised to see a price hike just in time for Christmas, especially for loyal updaters.

I made no claim about what one would actually pay. That is unknowable.

This raises an interesting question. Since there is now no new version of Sonar (only a current version), it follows that the last upgrade price would be from X3 to Current. Will there be sales on renewals? And if so will it be a renewal if the membership has lapsed? If so will the price be different if the lapse is a month than if it is a year? As scook says... unknowable.

All good questions! For my money, given the improvements that we have seen over the past 10 months, it has certainly been $149 dollars well spent.

I am not sure if I have read an answer to this specifically, but if SONAR is on sale and purchased before the expiration date does that simply extend the current expiration date by a year?

For that matter, all sales I have seen thus far are "upgrades" into Platinum... I do not recall seeing anything as of yet which qualifies as a "membership renewal," so not sure if that is an apples-to-apples either?

Since I asked  the original question, I would like to expand my question to this:

If I decline to renew in December, and ride what I have until, say three or 4 years from now (random numbers, theoretical question here), can I assume that I would a) have to pay the renewal price (currently $199) whatever that may be then and b) paying that price would entitle me to everything new that has already come out since I opted out plus all the things for the upcoming year?  Is this how this new model actually works?  Forgiveness requested if this is in a FAQ somewhere, but I couldn't locate the answer.
