• SONAR
  • Jamaica Plan + RME UFX = lost connection to audio interface. *FIXED in next update*

In the last week SONAR has lost connection to audio interface several times. Today it happened in a dead simple project with just two tracks and one master bus while I closed Digicheck during recording.
Has anybody else seen Jamaica Plan losing connection to ASIO driver? I mean it stops playing audio but playback cursor is still moving forwards and you can't stop it. The only way to get out is to terminate SONAR process in Task Manager.  If I turn power off and back on from UFX, SONAR sees that new audio interface has been detected and asks what to do. Clicking Yes does not heal the problem nor stop playback as the dialog claims.

I have made no changes to the system after installing Jamaica Plan. Before that the last time I saw this issue was so far in the past that I don't remember the year... 2012 maybe.

If I'm the only one with this issue then I have to check my system hardware. :/
My RME UFX is connected via USB.

EDIT: Edited subject.

Yes, I saw it couple times with my Focusrite Scarlett 8i6. I updated my drivers to the latest beta simultaneously with installing JP (and upgraded my PC as well), so I thought that new drivers did it. New drivers give 16 samples buffer option and of course I couldn't resist to try it. This was first time I saw behavior that you described. But after that I saw it one or two times with normal buffer, always right after I changed it. But I was still thinking that it is because of beta drivers. But if you can see it with completely different interface, well you know what does it mean :)

Hi. I have the Ucx, not the Ufx, but have not had any issues with lost connection or any other issues for that matter. Mine is connected via usb as well.
All the best.

YES! I've had this also with the Roland Quad capture. I will sometimes lose the audio. I removed all other usb devices just assumed it was some usb bus issue, but maybe this is related to JP update. Windows still sees the device, but Sonar can't find it. Rebooting the system fixes it, restarting Sonar does not.

I dont think this is related to your audio interface but its not impossible. Something crashed and SONAR was unable to recover. Any plugins or control surfaces in use or anything special with the project?

I don't have any control surfaces.  AZ Controller is on the list, but In Port and Out Port are -- None--.
Today crash happened in this simple project (i removed audio from track 1). SONAR was recording track 2.

Just a couple minutes ago a different project: audio metronome did not start on record (it happens every now and then, though). I clicked stop and SONAR hang. This project has been very problematic in the last days. I saved it to a new folder but it didn't help much. Link to cwp file

I removed AZ Controller from the Control Surfaces list. No crashes so far.

I have a UCX and have not had this problem. I'm in Windows 10.

Removing AZ did not cure the problem; still hanging but less often than before.

I had lots of problems with Jamaica Plain and my RME ufx, but also replicated the problem with my X32, so I dont think it has much to do with the RME drivers (it rarely does!). The audio engine would stop frequently, even on the simplest of projects. I do have 2 controllers attached (Roland A300 and Presonus Faderport), but they have never been a probem before Jamaica Plain. Nothing had changed except the update, and Ableton Live continued to run perfectly on the same system. I have rolled back to Ipswich and all is well. Thats the beauty of the new monthly releases. Even installing manually as I do, rolling back is painless and takes about 3 minutes. The new features were nice, but not at the expense of stability. I am hoping things will improve with the next update.
